    • Super Hotel

We stayed here recently for a few days on our honeymoon and had such a lovely experience. The room was great! Everyone at reception was so nice and friendly and could not do enough for us, thank you Laura and Tom! The bar was great fun with excellent music and friendly patrons and staff (Mary in particular), and breakfast was define. Overall we had a great experience here and will definitely stay here again when we return to Clonakilty. Michelle & Marc Cabillic

    • Find somewhere else to have Lunch !!

Dropped in for lunch recently, oh dear it was not a good experience, I ordered shepherds pie with veg and it was far from good. The veg was slopped on to the plate from the carvery and were cold. The pie while hot was covered in a gloop which I assumed was gravy and the meat content seemed quite low. On the upside my glass of milk was nice. The staff while fairly efficient were in no way friendly.

    • This hotel needs a lot of work!

I will start with the positives, the The hotel staff for the most part were very pleasant. The hotel is also situated in the middle of the town which is useful. The hotel "car park" is pitiful, about 5/6 spaces available and even though I managed to secure one of these spaces, I struggled to get my car out the following day because of how cramped the spaces were. The alternative is to use the pay car park behind the hotel. But really this hotel should not suggest that they have free private parking when you can't swing a cat in the spaces available. Upon walking into the hotel, I felt instantly disappointed, the interior is shabby and no not shabby chique just run down, threadbare carpets, furniture that needs to be replaced. There is an old style charm to the hotel which can absolutely be maintained but currently it feels like a hotel where the management are not putting anything back into it! The rooms were also shabby, and I spent the least amount of time possible in the room because of the depressing vibe with old fashioned curtains, woren carpet. The hot tap in the bathroom was absolutely ridiculous it was so hot, they had a warning sign up but this was not satisfactory, customers should be able to use the hot tap without getting burned. I can't imagine what it would be like to have young children in the room with this type of tap. The breakfast is served in a restaurant that also can be accessed as a local cafe by the general public. This set up is chaotic and completely confusing for hotel guests. The sausages at breakfast were fantastic, however, the service was not, there was a misunderstanding about my order and the girl that served me was quite rude. This hotel needs a refurb and some serious TLC. It's a hotel on the main tourist trail, I would expect much higher standards from this hotel.

    • What a wonderful family run hotel

ODonovans is a gem of an old but well maintained traditional hotel right in the heart of this lovely town. The staff are terrific with great friendly service, just what we began to expect everywhere we travelled in SW Ireland. The room we had was the very best we found on our travels: large with an excellent bed and superb bathroom.

Stayed for 2 nights this weekend and couldnt have been better. Initially didnt know anything about the hotel but was pleasantly surprised. We had a twin room with balcony and the room was perfect, spotlessly clean, warm & very comfortable plus the balcony was a lovely addition. We had breakfast one morning and it was also very good. All the staff were very welcoming and really helpful. Location is perfect and has parking which is a plus. In all a lovely stay in a great hotel. Would recommend... walk around the hotel as it has loads of interesting bits to see.
