    • Amazing Stay!!

My partner and I stayed here for 2 weeks in September and it was lovely! We have previously mentioned on our booking that we were celebrating our anniversary and upon arrival at our room, we had been given a bottle of Prosecco and chocolate covered strawberries - a lovely touch! The resort itself was beautiful, lots of wildlife around including monkeys and a baby alligator in the wildlife pond! The buffet for breakfast was good (we didnt visit the buffet often in the evening but when we did - this was also good!) America (the chef) brought a smile to both of our faces, doing her job whilst smiling brightened up both of our day! The Italian and Japanese restaurants in particular were our favourites, the steak in the Italian was far better than that in the steakhouse and the show in the Japanese was fun. We spent most days in the Beso pool where Alejandro (Mexican Chocolate as he calls himself) kept us entertained every day. We spent most nights in the Lobby Bar where Ruben looked after us; Ruben made our holiday better, he was a happy face surrounded by other employees who did not come across as happy. Although we had a lovely holiday, I feel that I should mention that the Beso pool tinted the ends of my hair, along with my bikinis, green (maybe the chlorine or just the amount of drink which is spilt in the water through the day!) Along with this, my new pair of sliders went missing from underneath my sunbed on our third day at the resort whilst in the pool meaning, I had to buy a new pair in the town. Overall, we had a lovely holiday at Ocean Riviera Paradise. We would 100% return to this resort and would recommend to anyone!

    • A real paradise

Amazing place with nice people . Ive stayed at the resort for 2 weeks, and everything was excellent! Ive travelled alone to relax my self and I felt like in paradise! I didnt feel lonely at all ! There are a lot of activities available for the guests! From the very first time when l got in, until l left, the experience of staying at Ocean Riviera Paradise was very pleasant. Good variety of restaurants, clean room, excellent entertainment, clean pools, friendly relaxed staff! There is only one thing that bothered me a little bit -mosquitos ! Although the staff tries their best to combat the issue , they are there. So guys if you decide to stay at this resort, please dont forget to bring some mosquitoes repellent as is quite overpriced over there ( $15.00). Also if you know your self with sensitive stomach dont forget to get some Imodium as there is also quite expensive ( $25.00) . Apart from those little inconveniences ,everything else was beautiful !

    • Ignore the bad reviews - It's amazing!

I was so worried before our holiday after I read a lot of bad reviews online, to the point that I was considering booking another hotel. Please ignore the reviews - this place is amazing! Yes there are a few little critiscms, but you're going to find that anywhere. Firstly the resort itself is stunning, lovely pools, big spacious rooms and handy facilities on site such as gym, shops etc. It's a huge place so there is a golf buggy available to escort people around if you're worried about that. There are 5 pools altogether, all of which have pool bars and plenty of sunbeds - we didn't struggle to find one in the whole 10 days. Each pool is suited to different groups, i.e kids pool, relaxing pool, party pool etc. Yes the party pool is loud, busy and not as clean as the others but it's expected after all the foam parties etc. Our favourite pool was the quiet-ish pool opposite the mexican restaurant. Perfectly relaxing with some melllow music. Angel on the bar was fab. As for the rest of the staff, they all work SO hard to maintain the ground and keep everywhere clean. I read a lot of reviews about no one cleaning but we always saw staff working their hardest to make the place look good. People on reception were helpful and friendly, as were the rest of the staff in the resort. Edgar who is the manager of the restuarants was great - we did a wine tasting night with him which i definitely recommend. He certainly knows his stuff! Before we went I wasn't sure how the general area would be and how easy it would be to explore Playa del Carmen. I would recommend booking a taxi through the bellboys at reception, the taxi has to leave all of their details with the hotel and you leave your room number so every journey is tracked which is always good peace of mind and made us feel at ease. Little tips - Definitely go to Coco Bongo, yes it's busy but it's brilliant! Also, don't bother with the Spa at the Hotel. I think they were advertising full body massages at 170 dollars, but i paid 30 for one on the beach which was an hour long and it was amazinggg. My only slight criticsm is the food.. My partner and I are BIG foodies so we were looking forward to a taste of Mexico! However we didn't exactly get that. The buffet is great, lots of variety and mexican food, yet the rest of the restaurants were a bit disappointing. Food portions were small and weren't the best quality, plus there was at least one closed every evening, and with there only being six to begin with you can imagine that it caused the rest of them to be extremely busy so we had to queue to get in. The Tepanyaki restaurant was brilliant, however the rest were average. I didn't rate the steak house and Route 66 i wouldnt bother with. Other than that, the rest of the stay I couldn't fault, great value for money and overall a wonderful holiday.

Great daily performance show. Lots of energy without rest for 1 continous hour. Very strong group of young performers who would have great future if given opportunity in a bigger arena. Thought they were professional performers on contract...but actually they are employee of the hotel.
