    • Dunas Resort - Not For Us

Pool areas and overall site is nicely maintained. Staff are friendly and helpful. The Taste bar is a nice wee place and the girl there was really lovely. On arrival, it was quite late but we were able to stowe our luggage in the office and scoot down and have some dinner as the dining room had not closed. The receptionist suggested this and we were glad of his offer. On to our villa accommodation..... The villas are pretty close together so if you want to sit out on your patio area and are sited next to a footpath, it is not very private. We were tired on arrival and had been looking forward to our wee week away, so were disappointed with the state of our villa. There was mould on the air con vents and around the wall and also mould on the bathroom ceiling, so I assume the air con unit was leaking in the roof space. I noticed marks on the tiles in the bedroom on the wall and on the bedroom floor. I had taken dettol wipes with me and cleaned them off. Looked like snot on the wall tiles under the bedroom window and there was some sort of dribble on the floor which I also cleaned. This leads me to believe that it was not just the floors that had not been properly cleaned before we entered the villa. There was a dust pan under the sink but no brush. The general cleanliness is just about adequate. The bottom of the shower screen needs cleaned properly as does the floor round about the shower. The sinks and toilet were clean. The bathroom mirror was not cleaned when we were there. I asked for the bathroom floor to be mopped. The cleaner mopped around the toilet but it wasnt properly cleaned. The accommodation is simply dated and grubby. Curtains grubby, walls marked and damaged, gap in front door, bath edge all marked. The main dining room is noisy when busy, this is really due to the open space and decor, they could really do with some softer furnishing to absorb the noise. We used the adult dining area which was very handy. The food was pretty good overall. I noted some comments regarding the food not being too hot and while this is true, the dishes are replenished and are fresh and we had no problems with this. Although if you have something hot on your plate and then have to wait for something else, whatever went on your plate 1st will likely be cold when you get to your table - so be quick! Overall the choice was good. I have to say, lunch was great! When the restaurant is busy they will often run out of plates and cutlery and you would have to wait for someone to bring some, or ask (if you could find someone handy to ask), or pinch from another table. Sometimes the plates straight from the dishwasher still had some food on them and I would have to take another plate, same with some of the cutlery. I believe these issues could be easily resolved with another area for a dishwashing station. Then the dishwasher would not be overloaded and would prevent a shortage of clean cutlery and plates (you'd think). I dont blame the hotel for this, but it is bad design and a fault on the company overall for not ensuring that the facilities can adequately cope with high volumes of guests at one period. This also applies to the toaster (1 for the whole of the dining room in the mornings) and the tea and coffee machines. We stayed in a much smaller resort in March and they had two machines at breakfast. The Dunas Suites and Villas only has 3. They could also do with more staff, clearing and waiting on the tables. Again, I think this is probably the hotel chain limiting outlays to maximise profit, the staff all seemed to be working very hard but lacked good direction from a Manager. Some of the villas have been refurbished and are nice inside. We were given a two bedroom villa to get changed and showered in before departure as check out is 12pm. Even in the new villa, you could tell that the work had not been carried our by fully qualified tradesmen, I think the hotel/Dunas are using their own handymen for their upgrades or the standard of the tradesmen was not very high. Note that there are a lot of Spanish weekend visitors to the resort, so if you are looking for a late check-out on a Friday, you probably wont get one. This resort really is geared towards families. If you are looking for a quiet holiday for couples with a high standard of accommodation, I wouldnt recommend this resort. We decided not to make a fuss about the accommodation, it was adequate and we thought that we would just make the best of it as we did not plan to spend a lot of time in the villa. The beds are not very comfortable and my back was killing me by the end of the week. It was not worth 740 each for a week half board. We will not be back to Dunas Resorts.

Home sweet home that says enough, at the moment when we arrive the burden falls off your shoulder and the peace comes over you. We really enjoy every minute off the day staying in Dunas Suites & Villas. We think it is always well organized. The villa (no. 369) is great, the beds are perfect and the view of the pool was amazing. All the staff are super friendly but we would like to thank the following people for another great holiday, Marion from the front desk (reception) Samuel, Diego and Rayco from the Bar, Monia from the massage studio.thanks everybody for having a great time.

There is a gym we used everyday, the three swimmingpools are very nice with enough sunbeds, so always beds available! The service and cleaning was perfect.well be back for sure someday.

Beautiful villas and bungalows in well-kept gardens with a variety of pools. Animation programme for those who want to take part but if not, they have "quiet" pools with no music etc. Very friendly staff. Food is excellent with a good choice to suit all palets.
