    • Fun and techy hotel

This hotel is funky inside - it took me a while to locate the front desk. My closer quarters / narrow room was fitted with a lot of tech - iPad, Echo, and Apple TV. The location is okay but if your don't have a car or would like to walk around I'd recommend staying closer to Braddon.

    • A great place to stay - especially for Floriade.

Ovolo Nishi - conveniently located in the heart of Canberra and only a short relaxing walk to Commonwealth Park for Floriade. The hotels staff are warm and friendly. Guest services are so prompt it's not funny, and the hotel has an excellent gym overlooking Lake Burley Griffin. The rooms are great and Ovolo's 'happy hour' is a very happy one indeed. Most hotels we have stayed in have an almost empty foyer - Ovolo Nishi's foyer is a happening place, filled with folks in almost every corner. We were very happy we picked this hotel. Just remember to scan your room key in the elevator (otherwise you don't go anywhere no matter how many buttons you press... how do we know this... ha ha!)

A modern, stylish and slightly posh boutique hotel 15mins walk away to the shopping district of Bunda Street. It was a sight to be greeted with reclaimed oak engulfing the lobby as you walked in from a long flight. The bar and reception area gives off a club vibe and the rooms overlook the lake (if you are on higher floors) and boosts tranquillity all round. The beds are soft and there are plentiful of pillows to accompany you on your lush sleep, modern touches to the switches and the complimentary minibar service only makes it better. The complimentary continental like breakfast was passable although the in-house restaurant is helmed by renowned Chef Ian Curley. Overall I spent more time in the room than the city itself.

When I first reviewed this place it was heaven. Perfect, food, styling, staff, the lot. Boy is it a different place now. The staff are totally disengaged even though there seemed to be more staff than guests. I had booked to meet clients in the bar and they had no record of it and I had to get a full interrogation from the events manager before they could work out what to do with me. Really unpleasant. The food was terrifically bad. Burnt tasting steak that was also so raw it was cold. Couldn't eat it. It's just a super average place now. Not going back. AND!!! The Ovolo MUST look at their email marketing crew. I have spent weeks trying to unsubscribe and they make it impossible. That's an outrage on it's own.

    • Nice stay but not quite 5 star

Really cosy and trendy hotel located in the NewActon precinct. Not much else around the hotel, although they are also attached to a couple of offices and above a cinema. The room was the right size for two people with no large suitcases. The let down was the bathroom, the door leaked water all over the bathroom floor and the bath mat quickly became soaked. For one nights stay this place was great, but for those travelling and staying for longer, the bathroom leaking would be annoying.
