These rooms are all on the ground floor level and the room is quite small and very basic. Could do with a lick of paint or a little upgrading. But tv, microwave and fridge all included and the sink area is very nice.

    • Shady business practice - they cancelled our room without calling!

Avoid this place at all costs, even if you see a good deal on an online booking site. We booked a room at a great rate through Hotels.com, but apparently it was too good of a deal because the hotel unilaterally cancelled our room and re-rented it to someone else. Upon check in at 3:30 p.m., they stated that there was a problem with the credit card and they had cancelled our room. Even if they were right, how about a phone call??? I have had that card for years, so there should not have been a problem. But in any event, who just cancels without calling the customer? To make matters worse, the check in clerk was completely unapologetic and rude. He was literally shooing my boyfriend away with his hand, like I don't have time for this, I've cancelled your room, why are you still here? We've escalated the matter with Hotels.com and I hope they get removed from that platform. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and have never experienced anything like this. We were left stranded and could not find any other rooms for less than $500 so we just drove two hours home.

We needed an inexpensive room for the night and chose this. Turned out to be a nice quiet and very clean room. Handy a grocery store and. restaurants. I would come back here again. I really liked how quiet it was.

    • Bare Bones Motel to Crash at Coming to or From the OC Airport.

      Reviewed 01 October 2017

Looking for a cheap place to crash at arriving late in the evening to fly out of OC airport the next day, we booked the Newport Bay Inn ($70 significantly cheaper than other options in the same area.) This is an old style motel (drive right up to your door though parking is limited near doors but also available in the back of the property). Nice local host who helped us get to our room. There are no extras here (no ice machine, vending, breakfast, etc.) The rooms are fine -- stripped of old dusty carpets and drapes to make them a bit more modern and equipped with new tvs, mini fridges and microwaves. Internet was fine, but water was luke-warm in the shower. There is significant traffic noise and the well lit parking lot spills through the blinds so not the most conducive for a good night's sleep. The grounds were clean and quiet though we could hear the neighboring room's conversation at 4:30 am. The motel is conveniently located next to a grocery store for last minute needs and while no breakfast is served a local coffee and donut shop is within walking distance. There is a local gas station nearby if you need to refill your rental before turning it in and an abundance of massage parlors (which gives you a bit of insight into the neighborhood though we felt safe walking around.) The drive to OC airport is short and easy so it met our needs.

    • Typical highway motel - but newly renovated

I arrived very late and was the last guest to check-in, but staff was still very friendly and extremely helpful. The motel is newly renovated and the room was functional. The A/C was a bit difficult to regulate. I ended up turning it off during the night, which made the room a bit stuffy in the morning.
