A very nice place to stay. Rooms are nicely appointed with very good amenities. The staff are warm and welcoming and the lobby area is very nice. Food and service was excellent. There was a very good variety of food to suit all tastes.

The hotel itself is luxurious and flamboyantly decorated with great attention to detail as it would have been when lived in by the maharajah. The facilities were more than adequate (the nice relaxing roof top pool is a must visit providing it's not too busy or hot!). This hotel presents itself in an old time formal Raj style, my partner found this too male orientated with some of the staff acknowledging her through me on several occasions, however, a particular shout out to the young gentleman who met us and had only just started working there, he was very courteous to both of us and gave a good overview of the hotel history. Incidentally, my partner posted similar feedback on Booking.com and the hotels "that's the way it is" response was not satisfactory given my partner did not experience the same with other hotels in India, so perhaps a rethink is required on how non Indian women want to be treated given the hotel is trying to appeal to the tourist market.

This is a hotel for people who want to experience luxury travel, rather than a simpler style. It is housed in a former maharaja's palace, and his antiques and photos are displayed throughout the building. Our standard room was palatial in size, with many luxury amenities. The staff were efficient and mostly friendly. The restaurant was excellent for both dinner and breakfast. The hotel is located a short distance from the centre of town. All in all we enjoyed our night of luxury as a break from more typical Indian hotels.
