The service on arrival was welcoming. The room looked out over the reserve. It was spacious and had a cosy fireplace. The quality of the food was beyond expectations. The staff was superfriendly , and the game ranger was hospitable and informative. Our overall bush experience was more than enjoyable!

    • Worst customer care ever! DONT BOOK!

I dont recommend booking this place! We (my parents and me) booked this place, due to the celebration of the 65th birthday of my mom. Unfortunately we cant go on this once-in-a-lifetime-trip anymore. My father is diagnosed with cancer. :-( Due to this devastating news we received, I got in contact with the reservation department. To see what was possible. We cant rebook, because we dont know yet when and how the situation of my father will be in the coming months. Thats why I asked for a refund of the deposit I made. From here the communication stopped and since two months Im waiting for a refund! Not any email or other way of communication is possible anymore. I called them 3 times via a expensive landline from Holland to South-Africa. To get in touch with the accounting department. Unfortunate no news. So my recommendation is: DONT BOOK THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!

    • Amazing African Experience

The entire reserve is amazing. There are such a diverse and large number of wild animals to see. They are not afraid of the game drive vehicle as they see them always. This allows up close personal experiences rarely seen anyplace else. The lodge is very much in traditional African style. The cabins have thatched roofs, a fire place and wonderful shower. The bed was more comfortable than mine at home and has mosquito netting that is closed at night. Its actually very pretty. I cant even begin to say the food was fantastic because that does not describe it in any way. The chefs are incredibly professional as is the entire staff. They work extremely hard to see to your every need. In other words we loved this place and more than highly recommend it. Great for family and guests of all ages. Oh and hearing the big male lion roar at night is unbelievably exciting knowing you are so very safe while experiencing something magical.

Three hours north of J'Burg by coach and then down a multi-kilometer dirt road and then track to a lodge and 10 villas. The first thing we saw as we entered the lodge was a giraffe munching on some leaves on a tree by the pool. Just beyond that was a herd of elephants coming up the hill. The villas were outstanding, the views of the mountains and wildlife out the back door inspirational and the food morning and evening wonderful. We had three game drives and the guide/drivers did everything they could to find the animals. The coffee and cookies as we stepped down from the trucks in the morning was a nice touch but the wine and cheeses in the middle of the afternoon drive was great. We had a group of 19 on the tour (Collette/Marriott Vacation Club) so we were the only folks for the time we were there. The staff fed us breakfast on the last morning and then sang to us as we left. If you ever get the chance to go to HangLip Lodge, DO IT!!!!
