    • Paid a special price and got a decidely unspecial weekend!

Paid 170+ pn and based on hotel details expected a good standard of accommodation and reasonable view. Room 209 we were put in had view of hotel roofs and no country aspect, decoration was tired, TV was tiny for room size - remote control buttons were worn out. There was noise of air conditioning/pump(?) reverberating through the room. When went to bed the air conditioning noise was exacerbated by noises coming up from the kitchen area. So impossible to sleep, so nearly midnight complained and were moved to better room, which was in keeping with the standard expected. Room tea/coffee facilities were understocked (milk for just one drink each) had to ask for additional items twice. Breakfast - orange juice just water, toaster didn't work, hot food was lukewarm and style of hotel would expect something more than sliced bread (i.e. fresh baked items) Bill - despite confirming with staff on arrival they tried charging extra for breakfast and also for a bar bill that wasn't ours. When you pay a fair amount for a room you expect these sort of things to be right! You don't go away to have complain.

The hotel and its staff tried their best to accommodate us but unfortunately there were too many things that totted up to make our family stay a disappointment. From the off set my sons bed had missing slats and was broken, the plug in the bathroom was also broken and the decor was tired and a bit sad. My other sons bed also had a massive questionable stain. I mean.... They were lovely and polite in trying to make it right for us I should say that; but that isnt the point of a hotel stay when you are PAYING for a service. There is a level of expectation and staff management should be on top of these things before booking in a whole family of 5. Also I would have appreciated being told we were being booked into the dog section of the complex where everyone smoked (because then we would not have come)!?!? The breakfast service was poor having to wait 20 mins for a mug at the self service. Also breakfast was till 9.30. When we got there at 9.15 everything had run out. Again not wonderful. There were so many little hotel details that were unattended to that SHOULD have been. I had to request the pool door to be opened to allow ventilation! Shouldnt that be someones job? Out door chairs covered in leaves and cobwebs that I cleaned for my family to sit on. I also noticed lots of plates and cutlery that still had food residue. Dont they have enough staff? The staff are polite but we kept having to point things out that we were unhappy with. Things you would expect. Its a shame. Also there were several others also complaining about various issues whilst we were there; some people were very upset. It is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting but we were disappointed. They could have done much much better for what we were being charged.

We choose this hotel on its lovely looks and overlooking the golf course , which my husband loves as a sport.the hotel was clean and staff very helpful , restaurant was amazing and the staff there catered for all your needs hotel great location to local sight seeing spots. Only disappointment and did make a big impact on our stay was the view from our room (261) it was of a roof ,a large wall and windows opposite (not rooms for people staying in) even leaning out looking left you still did not see much but to our right looking out it wasn't very nice looking straight into the window of the people staying in the floor below, so we had to and t hem keep our blinds down on a hot weekend. After thinking we would have a lovely view, whether it was because we stayed on a pre paid birthday gift voucher we had this room , but it was still paid for by the family as like anyone paying on check out.

Sorry Links Hotel but the room was in poor decorative condition with stains on the walls, iron burns on the carpet, asked for another room straightaway but nothing suitable; if we had arrived earlier and not had a small child looking forward to seeing the sea we would have left immediately. Asked for some extra cleaning in the room to get through, was offered a small price reduction. Also at breakfast no fresh coffee or tea, self service at a machine and honestly the breakfast was tepid to cold. Plus we overheard 3 other families complaining while we there
