    • Still the Montebello that I used to know and loved!

      Reviewed 18 September 2019

I haven't been to Montebello since the 90's so I was apprehensive about booking it because it been there for ages and it might be old and dilapidated. But I was pleasantly surprise when we arrived. It's the same old Montebello that I know and love and more. You get that old world charm but everything is updated. The staffs are very nice and accommodating. Food is great too. It's very peaceful. We stayed there for 5 nights and my kids loved it.

I organized a wedding last Aug 1 and I am very grateful to Ms Matahum for really assisting me, my team and the couple since day 1. The couple and the guests told me that the event was a success. I attribute and credit it to the Montebello team, to ms Matahum and the banquet team. I will always refer my clients here. Aside from having a beautiful venue, friendly and accommodating staff, the food is delicious too. :)

    • Our second home, oasis of peace in the busy Cebu city

      Reviewed 13 August 2019

This is the best place to stay in the middle of the busy city. This hotel is an oasis of peace, beautiful garden, nice and clean swimming pool, extremely friendly and hospitable staff, very clean rooms with nice showers and comfortable beds, and free shuttles at 11am and 4pm to Ayala, SM and Robinson Galleria. And for a good price: we paid for a Premier Garden with two doubles less than EUR 100 per night including a great extensive breakfast buffet with fresh ommelettes and pancakes. Were there no negatives? Our room was not very large, and the breakfast buffet is overcrowded by Koreans who can plunder the entire buffet in seconds. But the staff work hard to tidy it all up. We and especially our children consider this hotel our second home during our stay in Cebu City.

    • Very disappointing

      Reviewed 02 August 2019

Stayed for 2 nights with the hopes to escape a bit of the hustle and bustle of the city. To my very big dismay, I wasnt able to sleep the whole 2 nights. Neighbouring rooms were very noisy the entire night despite the guards assistance being called, it didnt solve the problem. Even people walking outside of the room, you can hear the footsteps from inside the room. The front office who called to remind of the checkout time was so robotic and could not even spontaneously answer questions when asked, because it is outside of her spiel.

    • Nice Gardens

      Reviewed 27 July 2019

Montebello Villa Hotel is situated right behind Gaisano Country Mall, making it convenient to grab for things you may have left out on your way to Cebu. I stayed for three days at the hotel and heres my experience: Hotel Staff is courteous all throughout my stay. Politeness is also apparent even on the phone when requesting for some things needed such as iron and ironing board. By the way, the ironing and ironing board can be borrowed for free for a duration of one hour only. Although they wont come knocking at your door at exactly an hour after, it would be best to notify the staff either once youre done, or should you need more time. The room where I stayed definitely feels dated. The bathroom seems it was refurbished with new tiles recently, while some woodwork i.e. cabinets, the desktop table seems to have seen better days. Another issue I had to deal with was the absence of bidet. First, the way the toilet was designed obviously needed to be revisited. When you open the door, you will be greeted by the lavatory with a huge mirror. To its left is the toilet, and to the right is the shower area. So that means, when you need to do number "2", you're gonna have to walk/run(?) towards the shower room to clean your bottom. I am the kind of toilet user who doesn't use toilet paper, so I find it really inconvenient and challenging doing my stuff in there. I like La Terraza where buffet breakfast is served. They have tables set outside the restaurant, and fronting one of the pools, giving diners that al fresco dining. However, the food being served there, I would say, is just average. There were not too many options for guests, other than the constant noodles, fruits section, and pasta/pancake tables set up. Another problem that I encountered was the noise level. There were a number of rooms occupied by guests who didn't bother closing their doors as they shouted while talking because their rooms were facing each other. But I did not request to be transferred to other rooms because at least I knew that there were other humans on the floor. Some spots in the hotel lobby give you this eerie feeling as if someone is present other than yourself. Generally, it was a usual hotel experience, nothing extraordinary.
