My husband and I were so happy when arriving here. We had a private room which was great. No hot shower but didnt need it because it was so hot during the days. Great vibes with restaurant, pool, bar, beach front, massage, volley ball etc. The reception staff wasnt very helpful and WiFi also poor. Otherwise, highly recommend!

Me and a friend of mine booked a private room at viajero hostel Tayrona. We payed 100 a night to sleep in the private room, the price included breakfast. The rooms were clean and big. However, the breakfast buffet was empty the first two days. It was also not possible to order anything from the menu. So we had to wait for lunch.Furthermore, lunch and dinner were terrible as well, to expensive and disgusting. Even though the dishes are quite easy to cook they still taste awful. It seems that the staff in the kitchen is too incompetent to cook for 100 people everyday. The overall impression of the staff is unfriendly, slowly, and terribly uncoordinated, which was negatively strengthened through the absence of a general manager. We arrived at 2 o clock in the afternoon for our check-in. However we were not allowed to enter the hostel until 3 o clock, not even for a drink or lunch. We had to wait at the entrance of the building for 45 minutes until we were able to check in. During the evenings the bar is open. A nice place with a view on the swimming pool and beach. However, there were only two people at work. I took a minimum of 20 minutes to get your drinks. The same waiting time was with the food - we sometimes needed to wait an hour for the food. In addition, if you plan to quickly answer e-mails or book a new stay at another hostel, you cant as the WiFi does not work properly. The beautiful pool, which gives the resort a nice atmosphere, is too warm and is also barley cleaned. Our tip to clean it twice a day so people do not swim with thousands of flies in the pool and check the temperatuur regulator. Hence, my stay at the viajero was terrible I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. I know that the other reviews of this place are pretty good, that is why I booked it myself, but it ended up being a disappointment. My advice, fire 90% of the staff, hire a normal general manager and fix this place because the buildings and surroundings are beautiful.

    • LOVED this hostel!

The location of this hostel is great next to the ocean, in the jungle, and surrounded by mountains. The only downside is that it IS outside of actual Tayrona park and we had to pay a bit more for shuttle service coming from Cartagena. The rooms were clean (obviously the few bugs, which is expected when you're in nature), and very spacious! The pool/bar area is awesome with a laid back vibe and friendly people. There was lots of room to lay by the pool or the ocean during the day. The bar was also fun at night with games and great bartenders - the music was sometimes great and other times super repetitive/loud. The food was alright, nothing special. Overall, it is definitely one of the coolest hostels I've stayed at and I'd definitely recommend it!

I came a stranger for three night So! Stayed for a fortnight and left as family! Without a doubt the BEST place I have ever stayed at! A resort at backpackers prices! Fabulous dorms, big, spacious, a great pool. Great restaurant, reasonable priced food that is delicious, and the staff! The absolutely fabulous staff and volunteers made my stay incredibly special!

We stayed at this hostel for 2 nights and loved it, probably one of the best hostels weve stayed in in South America. The facilities are great, rooms comfortable and stylish, they have some very friendly dogs and almost all the staff were welcoming and friendly. The hostel honestly feels like a luxury resort especially as it is on the beach! One bit of constructive criticism is that the restaurant needs a bit of work. The menu should be looked at again with more Colombian dishes which the chef would undoubtably be good at cooking. The lady that works in the restaurant (and who I think may be the manager) needs lessons in hospitality as she was rude on 2 occasions which unfortunately lets all the other hardworking staff down. Other than that we had no complaints and absolutely loved this hostel- would highly recommend.
