    • Check you room!

      Reviewed 06 January 2020

We booked a junior suite with sea view. We checked in and went to our room. It was clearly not what we had booked , half the size , cramped no balcony space. We queried it and were told that we were given an upgrade! I would have laughed only the receptionist looked serious. I went and got my lap top , showed them their e-mail confirmation of a junior suite on the 7th floor with sea view. They then said all the junior suites were gone , no apology. Only after we threatened to leave did they magically find the room we have booked on the 7th floor. Two staff blatantly lied to use and frankly ruined our experience.

    • Terrible service

      Reviewed 03 January 2020

This hotel is in a beautiful location. Unfortunately they do not care about your experience. We paid for the melia sea view room, which is more expensive than the classic room. We were placed DIRECTLY above their bar/lounge and the noise level in our room was like trying to sleep in a night club. It was not relaxing at all. These first floor rooms should not be rented. Also, they advertise tennis. We were told to send an email in advance to arrange lessons. We did. Upon check in we were told they do not organize tennis. Then another staff member told us to contact their activities staff. We did. That person referred us back to the front desk. It turns out they do organize tennis. But we wasted a day and a half trying to get correct information from staff. Again, not relaxing. This is an expensive hotel that advertises itself as luxury. We did not feel at all that they cared about our experience.

    • Family of 7, 3 bedrooms from 24-31 Dec,2019. Not a 5 star hotel. Desappointing compared to other Melia

      Reviewed 02 January 2020

Arrived Dec.24th 2019 at 22:00 Hours. All front desk personnel was courteous but this one (pity I didnt get his name) that after we requested 3 different rooms since the ones given to us were not what we expected, he reacted with sarcasm in a very dismissive attitude. Bad start for a family vacation Since we arrived late on the 24th, we were given a cold cuts dinner that was uneatable. After complaining about it, they say that we would get lunch for free on our departure day to compensate but never happens. Breakfast very pour compared to other Melias. Poor quality cooking, burned omelets, no cooked vegetables, Qualify for a 2 star hotel. Dinner similar to breakfast. No attention to the detail. Very poor. Not a 5 start hotel. Certain areas of the hotel look rundown ...wall paper in the 2nd floor wall Melia Tamarindos management should learn from Meli Atlntico Isla Canela or Melia Alicante and copy them Paid about 7.000. We will not recomend it and will not come back

    • A Week in the Sun for my 70th

      Reviewed 27 December 2019

We spent a week at the Melia Tamarindos from the 16th of Dec using the Level facilities but on a Bed& Breakfast basis as we enjoy a walk and eating out on an evening. We did pay for an upgrade to a Level Suite as we felt the Level Double Room with Sea View we were allocated on Floor 5 was a bit on the small side and that the veranda was also quite small and my wife who does not like heights felt that it affected her vertigo too much, the Suite we had on the 1st Floor although it didnt have the same view suited us much better really Spacious a huge Veranda which had two sun-loungers as well as a table and 2 chairs my wife really thought it was great. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at the Tara Restaurant, some people may prefer a wider choice of food but it suited us and we did not have an issue with having to make our own coffee and toast,we had Bacon & Egg with either Tomatoes or Mushrooms most mornings and I had a delicious omelette on one of the days.We really enjoyed the Level Solarium area close to the Pool and also the Level Lounge you had access to Cava or Prosecco in both places as well as other Beers and soft drinks and Coffee if you wished. We felt that some points werent explained to us too well but overall we really liked this Hotel. For us we felt that that San Augustin itself was a bit on the quiet side and we are going to return to Maspalomas next year as we know it well and there are a lot more choices of places to eat which suits us more. The Staff in the Tara Restaurant, the Solarium Area and all the cleaners and gardeners were friendly and helpful and when we returned to our room after having played a round of golf at Maspalomas on my Birthday there was a Bottle of Cava in an Ice Bucket with 2 Glasses which we both thought was a very nice touch. Overall we had a really nice week in the Sun.
