    • A Perfect Place to Tour Puglia

      Reviewed 03 October 2019

We have spent ten days in Puglia and three days in Basilicata (Matera area at Palazzo Margarita) . We had only planned to spend three nights at Masseria Torre Coccaro but due to some of the worst recommendations by our English travel agent, we actually spent nine days here . This is a beautiful location and hotel and tremendous value. When we arrived the first time we were warmly greeted - and the same occurred each time we found ourselves back here. The breakfast at the hotel is incredible - an array of fresh fruit ( with fruit that tasted as if it was fruit - everything from passion fruit, melons berries, prickly pears, kiwis and more) , local cheeses, a table full of cakes, pastries, breads and on top of that you can order frittatas and other egg dishes, smoked salmon and bruschettas - all included. It was one of the very best we have ever experienced for quality and array. The rooms are well furnished and charming and the pool was so warm and large you can swim off all of the food you eat while here. We ate at the restaurant here several nights. You are presented each night to start with a bowl of fresh and delicious cucumbers, fennel, carrots with a balsamic dip, wonderful breadsticks and crackers, and a pre appetizer which varied each night. There is a main menu with wonderful choices and then a daily menu . On top of that the staff were always willing to even do just a plain pasta or sauted spinach or accommodate other requests whenever we asked. The desert chef is very talented and there was always a pre- dessert. After staying here we wonder why our travel agent recommended places in desolate areas of Puglia towards the south . At Masseria Torre Coccaro you are five minutes from Salvelettri - a beautiful fishing village (with great fish restaurants - especially Pecheria 2 Mare) and a place where you can swim or just walk along the beautiful sea . You can reach easily all of the main sights from Lecce to Bari and Alberobello and Martina Franca etc. You can eat in other restaurants without driving miles and miles . Everything you need is here in a lively and friendly and helpful location. This is also a wonderful spot for family gatherings - we saw many families here and wish we could have had our entire family here to stay. If we return to Puglia this will definitely be our base.

    • 5star that is NOT

Stayed at this hotel in September. The accommodations are shabby and although the food in the dining room is good the service was terrible. Took a very long time. Would not recommend this hotel for anyone expecting a 5 or 4 star stay. It was very expensive and not commensurate in value

Hospitality for Masseria Torre Coccaro is a priority. Quite place, nice food and good beach experience at the Coccaro Beach Club. The staff is able to make you feeling like at home and all details are perfectly considered.

My family (me, wife and two cynical 17 year olds) stayed at the Masseria in adjoining rooms last month. We all loved it. A fun, peaceful stay. Large, attractive rooms, attentive and friendly staff, amazing food, beautiful grounds and a great location that seems to be within thirty minutes of everything. We highly recommend the Masseria's village festival for dinner and the cooking class taught by the Masseria's chef. All in all, a fantastic stay.

    • Stunning Masseria set on incredible grounds

This place is incredible I will start with that. Stunning Masseria on incredible grounds. We stayed in chapel suite and it was beautiful. Huge bathroom. Shower was amazing with the best water pressure. Lovely outdoor place if you want to sit and unwind. Huge pool which is always attended by a lifeguard on duty. A great play area with slides, swings and many toys for children supervised by staff who play with children. Breakfast was one of the best I have had in Italy, a massive selection of fresh fruits. Cereal. Cakes. Pastries. Yoghurt. The list goes on. They have 2 beach clubs that you are able to reach by free shuttle or your own car not too far from Masseria. Lovely staff and very helpful. I would highly recommend to anyone travelling as a family. If I would give a negative its a very small one, would be for fresh water to be supplied daily to hotel guests in room.
