We were impressed by the service and room accommodations here! I want to say first that I was worried once I realized it's a timeshare property, but they didn't pitch to us at all. We had a short but lovely stay, and I would definitely stay here again. Our room was on the second floor, but was NOT a loft room. It was a one bedroom apartment with small kitchenette, sitting area, dining area, and bathroom. We loved it. There was a sign on the wall explaining a discrepancy between the heating/cooling in the living room and in the bedroom, but it worked out great for us - the bedroom stayed nice and cool at night, and the living area was less cold and more comfortable in the late summer heat. We noticed the Irish pub right outside our window, and I had seen some other reviews saying that lower floors are noisy, but we did not hear them at all. It was so quiet. Other than that, the ceilings were amazingly high, the kitchenette was wonderful, and the bed was SO comfortable. Water pressure in the bathroom was bad, but I wouldn't expect anything else in such a historic building. Although there was some trouble with the tub draining, which could be remedied. Other highlights: There was live music in the counting room each night we were there. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The common areas are filled with historic pieces. And guests can go up to the observation deck whenever they want!

As a long time Marriott Member I have to say that this was one of my favorite experiences. My family had a very tough time leaving. From the pleasant staff upon check in, the outstanding accommodations and unbelievable views of this great city, Custom House did not disappoint. Great location to enjoy all aspects of the city. Oh yeah did I mention the views.

A little known secret gem in the city is the Custom House. Though now a Marriot Hotel, it is open to the public and is worth checking out. When you take the stairs to the 2nd floor it feels like the reverent quiet reserved for museums and cathedrals. It is a step back in time, surrounded by granite and outstanding architecture. Enjoy the views of the circular ceiling , the flags , and the very unusual textured carpet. Photos can't capture the 360 degree view. Even the bathroom is interesting and mirrors give an optical illusion before you enter. Explore through the enormous heavy exterior door to find an unexpected outdoor patio area, which looks sideways over McKinley Square. A great spot for a break from the crowds with comfortable cafe tables and lounge chairs among the massive columns. This is an absolutely beautiful historic gem, Boston's first skyscraper. What a special place that Marriot has incorporated into a hotel. It would be a privilege to stay here if you get the opportunity. It is a stones throw from numerous sights.
