We stayed here for 6 nights for our 30th wedding anniversary. We were upgraded to a suite so the room we had was fantastic however because we had been upgraded We didnt get the butler that normally comes with these rooms. We were constantly having to ask reception for things like water which was irritating. The water in the refillable bottles was taken away daily and often not replaced. At one point we were left 4 chocolates in a jar we ate two and went out, when we returned the chocolates had gone!! We used the suite beach and had fantastic service from Jay. Drinks and food was brought to us before we knew we wanted it. The food was good throughout the day but the evening food was poor. We tried to get into the a la carte restaurants as soon as we arrived but they were fully booked. People could book as many times as they wanted so other people missed out. This needs to be arranged better. We used the massage facility on the beach and that was very good when they arrived. They had to be called for a few times. The grounds are lovely and well kept a little oasis. There is not much surrounding the hotel within walking distance. The hotel does a shuttle service to Port Louis and the driver was very accommodating There are plenty of inclusive water activities and I never had a problem booking them. Finally the diving centre brilliant couldnt be faulted excellent team.

We went to the Maritim for our 1st Anniversary and can't help but feel a bit short changed. Whilst it's a good hotel, it didn't feel like a 5* Experience worthy of the 5* price. We paid a lot of money for an All Inclusive, only to find that All Inclusive doesn't include everything (making it not so inclusive) unless you go for 'Premium' All Inclusive. Make sure you are clear with whoever you book your stay with as we weren't told that there were tiers of All Inclusive. We had to pay extra for most things on the various menus in the different restaurants. Compared to other 5* all inclusive resorts in Asia and the Caribbean this definitely lags behind. Rooms: The rooms are in need of serious renovation. They resembled something you'd expect from a 3* hotel. Lampshades freying at the edges, dingy lighting and old rickety cupboards. Dreadful beds that are rock hard and will give you a backache. The first thing we did was get rid of a few moths and mosquitoes in the room. We mentioned this to reception and they told us to use the plug-in repellent in the room. This worked reasonably well for the rest of our stay. The bathroom and shower were good and clean. The mini bar was frequently re-stocked as well. The cleaners seemed to take forever to get round to cleaning the rooms. Sometimes our room wasn't cleaned until 5pm! Restaurants: The biggest weakness at this hotel were the restaurants. Make sure you try and book your restaurants as soon as you check in. Most of the restaurants were 'fully booked' for the days we wanted them however on the day they were mostly empty suggesting this is more due to a lack of staff than actual capacity. We overheard another couple complaining that none of the restaurants were available for the duration of their stay which completely defeats the concept of all inclusive. The buffet does a good breakfast but is variable in the evenings and we stuck to the Quarter Deck Bar for lunches which was also very good. Le Banyan was a good dinner option serving decent Far Eastern cuisine, Le Maree was of a 2* standard serving overcooked seafood and 'BBQ chicken' that tasted like something from a microwave meal. We were booked to go to Les Filaos but were put off by stray dogs wandering around the restaurant (more on that later). The only restaurant that lived up to its billing was the Fine dining Chateau mon Desir. An outstanding restaurant that was genuinely better than 5 stars and well worth the money. Note that there is a dress code for men, in that they have to wear trousers to the restaurants in the evenings. The dress code is also enforced properly so if you happen to be wearing shorts you will be sent away. I didn't mind this too much but I'm sure some people did mind. Grounds and Activities: This is the strongest part of the hotel. Beautiful gardens and grounds that are perfect for after dinner walks and the like. The infinity pool is nothing short of beautiful and was a brilliant place to relax. There are also plenty of activities as part of the All Inclusive option that will cater to anyone's need. The variety of water sport activities was very impressive and the staff were always willing to help. Animals: This was definitely a problem for us and is a problem that a 5* all inclusive hotel should resolve. The two beach restaurants constantly have stray cats and dogs wandering around. At La Maree we saw one stray cat almost jumping into someones lap whilst they were eating their steak. We had a cat pawing at my foot begging for food. On top of that people did not listen to the hotel's advice and were feeding stray dogs and cats, thereby encouraging the problem. We didn't bother going to Los Filaos due to stray dogs sitting in the restaurant. Finally, we had booked a Maritim Magic Moment to celebrate our anniversary. We booked a private beach bbq for approx. 150. Little did we know that all we were getting was average quality food from La Maree. Firstly we had 2 stray dogs walk up and stare at us awkwardly for a couple of minutes (far from romantic). They then left. After having a poor quality bbq chicken starter our mixed seafood skewers were extremely poor. The squid was horribly overcooked and rubbery. The prawns were tasteless although the swordfish was very good. Half way through our main course we saw a mouse run across around the bbq itself. My wife notified the bar lady (as our assigned waiter had disappeared). Our waiter came over and asked if we were ready for our next course. We mentioned the mouse to him and he almost completely ignored our concern and asked what we wanted to drink. When he brought the drinks out we told him that we did not want to continue with our meal as we'd been put off by the mouse. He and his supervisor suggested we finish the meal in the Le Maree restaurant amongst all the other guests. We kindly refused as it was not what we paid for. We spoke to the hotel manager and the 2nd question she asked was 'How big was the mouse?'. Regardless of the size of the mouse I should not be seeing it near where my food is being prepared. We asked for this not so Magic Moment to be fully refunded as it was disastrous and ruined a special moment for us both. I was also patronisingly reminded that I was in a tropical country so these things can happen. I had to reiterate that I understood the reason for the stray cats and dogs but there was no excuse for mice being near where my food was being prepared. Needless to say it didn't happen in the Far East last year, or my visits to Kenya or the Caribbean which are also tropical parts of the world. It felt like we were being given a series of poor excuses for the hotel's failings on the night. Thankfully, we were given a full refund for this. In summary: This is a very good hotel, however it is being let down with a lack of care and some poor quality dining options. I sincerely hope that the hotel can restore itself to previous glories as I went off the back of several recommendations from people who visited 5 years or more previously. A lot seems to have got worse in the past 5 years and the hotel doesn't feel like the 5* All Inclusive experience one would expect these days.

Myself and my husband arrived here for a week as part of our honeymoon trip. We have stayed in plenty of 4* hotels across the world that would blow this one out of the water, by no means is this hotel a 5*. Staff are slow, service VERY slow, ants in the room, maids do not clean throughly, bats on the balcony, food is warm if that and tasteless, cant book into any of the hotel restaurants. If you want to own a hotel of this size at least employ enough staff to cater for the holidaymakers. Put a real downer on our honeymoon trip to be honest.

I have stayed in several hotels in Mauritius. The room was average and nothing to write about as was the main dining room. The manageress CHERINA was absolutely lovely to us and made us feel very much at home. However, the bar where I found myself most of the time, due to my daughter and teenage granddaughter enjoying all the facilities other like horse riding, ( which I too took part in) sunbathing kayaking and various water sports. ( Ive done it all on previous visits) I was amazed on how far the bar staff would go to make one feel at ease. They were just great. My thanks to all of them specially that gorgeous cocktail waiter called SAHAI. Would I go back . Definitely.

Just coming to the end of our 9 night holifay @ Maritim Spa Resort. I am honestly dumbstruck by the negative reviews from other users, our experience of the resort has been nothing short of amazing. The staff are so friendly and helpful, special mention to the La Maree bar staff who knock up the best cocktails and to Dylan our drinks server in the evening @ Quarterdeck bar. We have been told that the resort will closed for renovations from February but as soon as they are complete we will be looking to book our next stay. Thank you to everyone working at the resort for such an amazing holiday and for assisting in making some truly awesome memories.
