    • Has gone downhill

      Reviewed 29 September 2019

Having stayed here twice in the past, I was unpleasantly surprised. I knew that the apartments varied a lot, but this one was very dark and looked straight across into a storage room for Big W. It had a balcony but no chair. The kitchen had hardly any dishes, and there were two small towels for the two of us. The info book said to wash your own towels or rent another one for $5. Seriously? What do you use while youre washing and drying them? I used the (single) tea towel. The parking was difficult and unsigned. Next time, we will stay at the Meriton Herschel Street again. About the same price but a much more high end experience to go with the price, a view, and more than one towel.

    • Reasonable size room but there are better options for this price range in CBD area

On a positive note, the room was a reasonable size with kitchen and laundry facilities. Overall dcor was pleasant with a good sized ensuite. Ideal location for CBD/Queen St Mall and check-in/out staff were friendly. When I first entered the room mid-afternoon all curtains were closed, which made sense as soon as I opened them! Every window/balcony for the room was facing directly into the neighbouring office building (at extremely close proximity - enough to clearly recognise details of workers faces). It felt quite intrusive, so the curtains had to remain closed during my stay for privacy reasons which made the room somewhat dark claustrophobic (and seemed a bit musty). Cleanliness was good, although a reasonable amount of mold in the shower. No on-site restaurant facilities, however, in the building next door (the MacArthur Centre) there is a Jamaica Blue (you'll receive vouchers for breakfast here) and a few little food hall style eateries, plus a Woolworths and bottle shop. quite honestly, I'd recommend forgoing the extra charge for breakfast inclusion and just have breakfast wherever you want. * Note: Not a serviced apartment (for a 3 night stay), and all dishes, rubbish removal/bin emptying, and general light clean must be done by the occupant prior to departure (otherwise risk an additional cleaning fee). This was the first time I'd stayed here as it is one of our corporate travel booking options, however, it's unlikely I'd stay here again as value for money, a number of other CBS hotels offer better convenience and rooms.

    • Great location for business or pleasure

Good solid building where you don't hear your neighbours. Location is central to central Brisvegas so the shopping and such (Woolies & BigW right underneath with entry next door and Queen Street mall across the road). Beds were comfortable and place was clean. Additional things (towels for pool/ sauna) all seemed to cost extra so perhaps bring some stuff if you are staying a long time.

    • This is a day only venture for the Museum - overnight stayer be careful. Be weary of the room you get.

I booked this room for location (which was great) and we needed two bedrooms for family. Room was totally run down 1980's style with plastic dusty plants and no character, absolutely nothing like what was in the fabulous pictures posted. Stay away from the sixth floor. We went to the pool (spa! ha) to find an old pool with holes in it. Warn out chairs, a lift to the pool floor that didn't work (we didn't need it but it speaks to the maintenance). Old worn out hotel. Needs maintenance. Also when was the last time anyone had to turn in a room key! They emailed me demanding the room keys or they will charge me $15 each. I told them I was a trip advisor rep who has traveled the world for 20 years and hasn't had to do this for the last 10 years at least! They said they would reverse the fees. Plus I also pointed out that it was not told to us on check in even though it was in that fine print. FYI we are not interested in returning here. I am in this City once a year and there are far too many other locations to stay. This hotel gets a two only for its location.
