An overnight stop on a journey from Hebrides to East Anglia. Check in efficient. Room was clean, decent size, comfortable beds, quiet. Bathroom was clean but could do with a minor upgrade (for example, a new toilet suite wouldnt go amiss). Dinner was tasty. A personal favourite of mine is Macaroni Cheese, so this is what I chose. It was very good, piping hot and very satisfying. Breakfast was buffet and ok, although I am not keen on coffee out of an insulated container; always tastes stale. The staff we met were all Eastern European and without exception polite, friendly and very smartly turned out.

We was looking forward to a stay at this very picturesque hotel in Lock Long, unfortunately when we arrived we were very disappointed, The photographer has clearly earnt his money when shooting this hotel. We arrived and was met with a car park that was half closed, the outside appearance was discoloured and paint peeling off. When we got into our rooms we had 1 room overlooking the bins (can't be helped as someone has to) and the other looking out on to an area where people clearly smoked and dropped all of their cigarette ends even though it's a non-smoking hotel. The rooms where just as bad, light fitting hanging out, mould in the bathroom, extractor not working and cobwebs all around the room, I would be surprised if this has been cleaned recently. Upon complaining the receptionist greeted us and said she would let maintenance know and that was it. I would highly recommend that people don't book this hotel and look for a guest house which offers a lot more value

Myself and my partner stayed here in July for 1 night. We booked this hotel then looked at the bad reviews and tried to cancel but to no avail. When we arrived at the Hotel the staff hadnt been notified about our dog. We were initially booked on the 4th floor but straight away the staff offered to change out room to the 1st floor to accommodate the dog. We waited half and hour in the beer garden for this to happen, but it was no big deal. The view from the beer garden is stunning and we loved sitting taking in the atmosphere. On arrival to our room it was bright, clean and large. Toilet was lovely and clean and so was the bedding. There was entertainment (singer & music) on in the lounge which was good to see. They played any type of song that we asked for and tried their best to please everyone. We never stayed for breakfast so I cannot comment on the food. Overall we were very pleased with the accommodation and the staff were lovely. Would definitely stay here again. I was shocked when I read the reviews before I went but was pleasantly surprised when we arrived and everything was fine. I honestly dont know what people expect.

This hotel is probably the worst I have stayed in. Staff poor, rooms atrocious, food awful and everything from the car park to the bedroom was very very dirty. Non British owners and staff obviously dont have any standards.

    • Overpriced and lacking in athmosphere

Booked this hotel for a 2 night stay for myself and partner (sat-sun ) as he was using a coach on rail replacement .we arrived early on the saturday and the receptionist said we could leave could our bags and she would get someone to put them in our allocated room.on arrival back at the hotel at 10.30 pm on the sat we could not park our coach as there was another coach and the carpark was full.we had to park about a 10 min walk away from the hotel.using another hotel carpark The night receptionist gave us our room key but when in the room on the 4th floor our bags had not been placed in the room as promised and still sitting in reception. The receptionist never explained about the hotel breakfast we had to phone reception to find the time .nothing in the room to tell us either. The lift to the room is in dire need of refurbishment. The room itself was adequte but needed some inspiration to make it more appealing as was the bathroom. Breakfast was appalling. A very limited continental option and a cooked that would have fed a child, bacon had hardly seen the grill it was that pink, half slice black pudding,4 mushrooms beans and a teasooon of scrambled egg and a very well done potato scone. Lukewarm coffee. We where able to park on the sunday so no wet feet. Dinner on the sunday was served in the bar area not ideal but the service and food was good as was the beer and few games of pool. Overall this hotel did not meet our expectations and was very dissapointing and grossly overpriced at 210.00 for 2 nights . There was no athmosphere and staff appeared to show no interest in guests merely doing a job.the upholstery in the bar area was covered in stains and the whole hotel could benefit from a new concept in refurbushment.
