Selcuk is mostly overlooked with the visitors rushing off to visit Ephesus on a whirlwind day trip.We (2 adults & 2 elderly) decided to base in Selcuk to visit Ephesus, Sirince and surroundings on a more leisurely pace. Livia was the best hotel we stayed in Turkey during our trip. The hotel is just 5 minutes slight uphill walk from the shuttle service drop off point (Municipal building) from Izmir airport. Restaurants such as Ali Baba & Mehmet Kebab House with its lovely home-cooked food is just few steps away. This boutique hotel was beautifully decorated with each room with a theme (Atlas, Zeus) with really comfortable bedding and sheets. Even the towels were embroidered. Certain rooms have a Turkish shower option. However there were nice touches that make this trip really memorable such as the lovely homemade breakfast (salads, jams, fruits, muffins, eggs); refreshments (muffins, drinks and fruits) were provided upon check in and upon request anytime; sage tea from the garden. Erdam even helped us with our baggage to the shuttle pick up location on the day of our departure which was totally unexpected. We really felt like honored guests as the service was above and beyond anything I had experienced so far in my travels. Super thanks to both Erdam (superb personality with his witty stories) and Mert for their superb hospitality and assistance during our stay. I will certainly stay here again if back to Selcuk.

We discovered this gem of a boutique hotel on TripAdvisor and we're very happy we did. It has been perfect in every way...Ali the proprietor and the managers Erdam and Mert are exceptionally gracious, accommodating and helpful. The served breakfast is elegant, varied and delectable. We have been everywhere and experienced none better. The entrance terrace off a quiet Selcuk side street abounds with fragrant flowers. Our room (Poseidon) was great...large by European standards (especially the bathroom and shower)...with excellent A/C and comfortable beds. And it's very convenient to Ephesus. While you're here, don't miss the St. John Basilica and the adjacent fortress. Both are impressive and only a short walk from Livia Hotel.

Ok so everyone here raves about the breakfast, and initially we planned to skip it since we only had half a day to tour Ephesus, thank goodness we changed our minds and the breakfast really met our high expectations, love the eggs and everything was organic! Many thanks to Mert whom we had a great chat with and Erdam for his great hospitality, Livia was like a home away from home, and very close to the main sights. Highly recommended for the best service you can ever get, room was comfortable too! Cheers Alison and Steven from Singapore

First of all the welcome made you feel like apersonal friend of Erdam, arrived early in the day but immediately into the room and provided with drinks and food. The service from Erdam, Mert and the young lady assistatant was outstanding. Breakfast is a feast and is not to be missed. Anytime during the day and evening we were offered drinks. The room was extremely comfortable and nicely furnished with a large bathroom. The room had an outside patio area to sit and relax after a day's sightseeing. As suggested by a previous contributer this area could be cordoned off. During our stay a group of young people thought it ok to take over this area and more or less block our entry. Apart from that this was the perfect hotel

What an awesome experience to stay at this cosy place. Erdam which is the owner is super attentive into ensuring you have a wonderful stay at his place. He prepares Turkish Breakfast that gave you a sense of luxury and is super delicious as well. The bed is cosy and premium. Location is strategic to the Basilica of St.John. Highly recommended if you want to taste the true hospitality of Turkish Culture.
