Located in a 17th century convent, A Travessa has tons of atmosphere and excellent service with delicious food. It is difficult to find and our Uber driver had to ask directions more than once to get us there. But we were so glad we persisted. We were given focused attention as we chose wines and entrees. The starters were pre-selected by staff and presented tapas style so everyone had a taste of each. There were 8 different starters and we loved everyone of them. Each diner chose his/her entree from abut 5 options presented to the table by the manager. The food was primarily local and seasonal - which means a lot of seafood. We ate in the courtyard and I would definitely recommend asking to eat outside as it was lovely.

I went here and told them that I was allergic to venison. They wouldnt allow me to have truffles on my lamb instead. Ridiculous. So I had to eat a plain lamb instead because they refused to accommodate an allergy. Get real!

This restaurant is tucked away from the crowds. The feel is like a monastery with incense burning. Be sure to sit outside in the courtyard if the weather is nice. The food was excellent, the highlight being the assortment of starters that was brought out at the beginning. Service was very attentive.

    • Sneaky Tricks

Its a pity that a once honest example of Lisbon dinning has succumbed to the temptation to extort high prices from the unsuspecting. I knew we were heading to a restaurant that these days sees more tourists amongst its patrons than locals, but I wasn't expecting the deceptive pricing. We were seated and offered water and the wine list, not the menu. We were soon presented with a few small starters to share and told that more would come. Also, the owner would come around and explain the mains on offer. He did come around later, listed some of the mains available and then handed us menus. Its only then that one is able to see that the starters they have been bringing to the table are going to cost 14.5 Euro per head. In addition, they add 7 Euro to the bill for the basket of bread (which we didn't touch). To add insult to injury the quality of the main courses was poor.
