    • Would be perfect if it had AC which is a must in todays warming climate

5* Location: 5 min walk from the center of Gordes 4.5*Infrastructure: 500 year old Bastidons (French Provenal Homes) gutted and renovated with all the modern trappings except AC! 50 x 2 bedroom town houses perfect for a family base of operation for visiting Provence. Would be 5* if they had AC. Simple wall mounted Hitachi ones would do. A must in todays changing climate of canicules in June! 4.5* fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and Nespresso machine. Matching milk frother would be nice for caf crme and lattes. 4* bedrooms which would be 5* with better fluffier pillows 4* bathroom 4.5* living room with flatscreen TV and futon. 5* terrace perfect for breakfast and dinner but too hot for lunch in this warming climate. 4.5* pool which could easily be 5* with more comfortable long chairs and mistral wind resistant umbrellas. 5* parking, pathway and common areas 2* laundromat: one of the two 1 charge machines was broken the entire time rendering one of the washers locked. Remove these stupid 1 charges and both washers will be accessible to the 50 guest homes. No one paying 1700 a week is going to abuse washing machines. The most important metric in evaluating a property is the NPS (Net Performance Score) which is on a scale of 1 to 10: Would you return and recommend to friends and family. On this I will give a Yes but not in summer because in todays warming climate, no AC is a NoGo

If the WiFi has worked I would have given it 5*. This is a lovely development of holiday cottages on the outskirts of Gordes, at only a 10-minute walk from the town centre. Good quality accommodation, beautifully decorated and with good quality furnishings in a beautiful setting. Our contact person, Mr. Prieur, was very friendly and helpful. We had a great week!

We have just returned from a 5 day stay in Provence, and the accommodation we stayed in here at Les Bastidons was absolutely lovely - a real home from home, immaculately decorated and furnished, extremely comfortable, and with every home comfort you could wish for - they have really thought of absolutely everything you might need while on holiday. The private garden with sun loungers through sliding glass doors from the lounge area was also very pleasant and pretty. Very relaxing after a hard day seeing the sights ! The location is also perfect - very quiet, and a short and easy stroll from Gordes village itself, with fabulous views of the village on the way. From here we also had good access to other places we wanted to visit - Orange, Avignon, St. Rmy de Provence, Roussillon, and many others. All in all - definately worth 5 stars !

This is a small gated commune of small purpose built houses just outside of the ancient Gordes. We were a group of four adults renting a two bedroom accommodation within the complex. We paid @ 950 for a week the end of. August First impression of our accommodation was not good I'm afraid, even though I was aware we were renting in an expensive area, I was expecting more for my money. I worried that there was only one shower room and one seperate toilet between four adults; I guess it would not matter so much with a family. The accommodation was smaller than I had imagined; open plan sitting room, kitchen and diner, two bedrooms and a seperate shower room and toilet however, the kitchen was well equipped with all we needed for the week and the beds were comfy (although the mossies visited often during the night) we enjoyed sitting out in our private yard in the mornings for breakfast and evenings with a glass of wine. The complex swimming pool is a feature and great size but unfortunately full of excited children the week we were there so not very relaxing - between term times I would consider sitting round the pool and taking the occasional dip would be relaxing. To get to Gordes is just a 15/20 minute stroll although is uphill, albeit not very steep. Once in the town there are a few interesting shops and individual boutiques to look in. There are several restaurants although we couldn't really rate any of them particularly high, Pizza and Pasta appear to be offered in most. We did spend a lovely evening sharing a bottle of Rose Luberon Wine in the Bastide De Gordes Hotel, on the terrace overlooking the old town, very relaxing although expensive. Other places to visit should include Rousillion, we spent a lovely day there popping in and out of the shops and stopping for a meal and Isle sur la Sorgue on market day which was buzzing. We also visited some vineyards and enjoyed wine tastings. Cucuron was disappointing, hardly anything there at all. We flew into Lyon and it takes around 4 hrs to drive to Gordes; the drive is easy and quite relaxing although you need to be aware of tolls if you are taking the most direct route so have some Euros at the ready!

As our first time to Provence my friend and I were nervous that perhaps we had picked the wrong accommodation and perhaps a bigger town would have been better - Les Bastidons in Gordes was amazing! The accommodation was only about a ten minute walk to the center of town, as well as close to nice restaurants nearby. Our apartment was more than big enough for two and had incredible views - will absolutely return
