Decided to go on a trip with my parents and their friends. We stayed one night at LT Wilpattu and it exceeded our expectations! First- the staff, so very kind and extremely knowledgeable, not only on wildlife and nature but Sri Lanka as a whole. We were hosted and looked after by Malmi. An absolute gem who made sure that we all were happy after and comfortable. My tent had an indoor shower- I mean, really?! If this is called camping I could do it every day. The overall dining experiences was fab. Especially dinner! Dining underneath the stars, with a camp lit up with oil lamps. WOW! We made some lovely friends and shared beautiful stories around the campfire along with a glass of wine. We were lucky to see many animals, leopards, elephants, deer, bears, snakes, crocodiles, birds and many other species. It is a national park and you could stand a chance of not seeing anything, but dont worry, If you love nature you will love Wilpattu for its flora. Its astonishing. Thank you all at LT for your GENUINE hospitality! Truly unforgettable

Had three great nights here. Stayed in the best of the tents, the upgraded luxury one, which was comfortable and well appointed. We were also the only guests during our stay so camp staff waited on us like royalty. Our guide/ranger Malmi was so friendly, a great host and quality ranger. He is very knowledgeable and entertaining as well as passionate about the wildlife. Camp staff friendly and professional. Food delicious and always far more than we could possibly need. Had also spent three nights at Yala on this trip and I preferred Wilpattu National Park for the wildlife. Saw sloth bear on three occasions, leopards twice, but all were top quality sightings whereas some sightings in Yala were adversely affected by the high number of vehicles. Birdlife excellent, landscapes varied and interesting. Also saw golden jackels, all three native deer, elephants, four types of eagle, kites, two different snake species, a huge yellow kneed tarantula, a kangaroo lizard, crocodiles, many tortoises and all the more common animal residents of Sri Lanka. We even were charged by a bull elephant! Thanks for an unforgettable trip. I highly recommend this camp.

My daughter and I visited the trails for two nights and what an experience we had. This was our first safari and everything was just perfect. To us the most important ingredient was our guide Malmi. He has names for the regular animals, his knowledge of all the animals, birds, insects was extensive. Nothing was too much trouble. We also seemed to share a sense of humour as well. Next the food and service. My daughter is vegan and they catered for her with ease. Each dish was explained in terms of ingredients and usually how they were prepared. Every dish was absolutely delicious, I would recommend asking the chef to make one of his Sri Lankan omelettes! The accommodation is wonderful - clean, spacious and comfortable. I had told my wife that I was roughing it because we were camping. I just had to send her a video of the unashamed luxury. Lastly the stars of the show - the wildlife. We had top class sightings of leopards and bears, both within 10 metres of our jeep. We saw many elephants and so many other animals. Most important of all we were able to share Malmis love of nature. We sat by a lake just watching the coming and going and loved every minute of it. I should also mention that there is a lot of wildlife around the camp. We had a water monitor pass by our tent, a gecko lived under my bed and a frog came to say goodbye. Neither of us wanted to leave. Brilliant. Thank you Leopard Trails and thank you Malmi.

This was our first stop on our honeymoon and it couldnt have been more perfect! Total glamping! The campground itself was so nice, our room was amazing, and we had great intimate Sri Lankan meals. The overall service was excellent and Pila made our experience that much better through his hospitality, knowledge, and keen observation - we ended up seeing 3 leopards which are a rare find. Unbelievable experience!

We have stayed at Leopard Trails camp Wilpattu for 1 night. We had the bad luck of having 2 flat tires along our way to the camp site. 'Luckily' the 2nd one was nearby and the guide/driver from Leopard Trails came to pick us up. What a camp site! Beautiful tents! Completely decorated with airco, very luxurious and safari-stylish! Because of our delay we were quite hungry, and they served a delicious lunch! As we were quite late because of the flat tires, we drove into the park while a lot of jeeps were exiting the park without seeing anything of interest during the their drives. But after our bad luck, we were lucky! We spotted 2 leopards (1 was sleeping in full sight, 1 came by quickly), 3 elephants ( a mother with 2 babies crossing the track right behind our jeep) and a sloth bear out in the open (right next to our jeep) plus the usual suspects like beautiful birds, peacocks etc. After this exciting game drive we had some time to refresh and relax. The lounge tent is lovely! And for dinner our dinner table was set at a beautiful spot between small candles/lights. The cook prepared a very delicious local dinner and we all enjoyed this special experience. The morning game drive was an early one. We were the first jeep to enter the park and we had enough time to make it further into the park than the day before. We spotted 1 leopard running into the bushes and again a sloth bear, as well as a mouse deer. As we drove further into the park, nature changed which was beautiful. The lakes are full of crocodiles! And what a views everywhere! A special thanks to the wonderful staff at the camp site, our driver and our guide Malmi in particular. Malmi had a lot of knowledge about the animals and nature and explained everything very well. He took pictures and videos with his own very good camera and sent these to us afterwards. Thanks Malmi! I would definitely recommend this beautiful camp!
