We visited Rincon Del Socorro in April and had an absolutely fantastic experience. You don't have to leave the property to see many types of birds and animals that you never see elsewhere. The staff is very warm and welcoming, and obviously very passionate and knowledgeable about the area. They organised some fantastic walks and other activities including a little picnic to watch the sunset in the wetlands. The rooms are very comfortable and they were able to accomodate our need for vegetarian meals.

The Iberia wetlands are a vast watery landscape in Argentina. To see the best of this unique world Rincon del Socorro is a wonderful place to stay. The guides,Matheus and Mingo were friendly ,passionate and knowledgeable. On our wonderful walks and boat trips we saw around sixty different species of birds in three days aswell as caimans, deer and foxes. On the estancia rheas and capybaras are everywhere. The estancia is part of an ambitious rewinding programme set up by the late Doug Tompkins of North Face fame and his wife.Pampas deer ,their habitat threatened by massive pine plantations, are flown in and protected.Eventually their young are released into the wild. This programme is working well and the same process is starting with jaguars. To top of this natural wonderland the food at Rincon was terrific-all fresh and wholesome and our room was comfortable and spacious. There are more famous destinations in Argentina but hard to beat this place.

I was finally able to come back, and this time i spend almost 3,5 days. I loved it, great excursion they organize. Because of the heat during the day after lunch and before the afternoon excursion you have plenty of time to use the swimming pool or have a nap. In the early afternoon all the animals are also having a sista. The morning excursions start early. Some times before 8 in the morning but you know that in the afternoon you have time to have a sista it is not a issue to get up early. Keep in mind your mobile phone does not work and almost nowhere you will have WiFi. Only in the restaurant and then the table next to the window, where you come in has WiFi. I did not find it a issue it is also nice that you have no WiFi. They have rooms in the main building but also Some little houses where you can stay. I stayed in a little house and i liked to walk when it was dark to my little house and see Some animals and stars. Really nice place.

    • One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at!

Seriously, one of (if not) the best hotel I stayed at. Anybody thinking about going to Ibera should first evaluate this hotel before anyone else: the personnel attention is unparalleled, food is outstanding (most of it comes from their own vegetable organic garden) and they have a well organized agenda with different events/tours for guests to explore every day. This is a great place to relax and enjoy true nature. A true bargain for what you are getting... I know my description might seem a bit unrealistic, but I had a great time that would love for other people to experience this magic place as well. Also, know that just by staying in this hotel you are contributing to Douglas/Kris Tompkins conservationist organization (CLT) in reintroducing extinct species to the Ibera region and preserving this unique region.

We really enjoyed our stay at Socorro. It is in the most incredible rural location in the Esteros del Ibera wetlands. The whole team were friendly, efficient and knowledgeable and most spoke excellent English. It was very interesting to hear about the enormous amount of work that has gone into the conservation of the entire area. The Estancia itself is attractive with good size rooms or separate lodges and comfortable and cool communal areas. Rheas, capybaras, deer, foxes and many birds roam freely all around the grounds and beyond. The walks with guides, horse riding and sunset drinks were all good. The lagoon outings are excellent with close sightings of many species of bird, water fowl, caimans, deer and frogs. Treks and outings take place in the early-mid mornings and late afternoons and the pool was very welcome in the heat of the day. Accessing the estancia need not be by a long road trip. We booked the return trip with AirBera who operate the small private plane flight from Posadas direct into Socorro and which takes about 1hr. The AirBera crew were experienced and friendly and flying over the area gave us such an amazing understanding of the sheer size of this unique wetland area. We felt the food didn't live up to the reviews - which may have been because of the time of year, February - but was certainly plentiful with good touches such as cool drinks and tea on return from outings.
