We booked Le Ninfee looking for a peaceful rural retreat close by to the Abbey at Monte Cassino. It is located a few miles off the main Cassino road down a narrow country lane with virtually no sign of any other houses. Having looked it up on Google Earth I already knew that the satnav location only takes you to the end of what looks like a cart track off this road, but that if you are brave and follow this for a few hundred meters the B&B quickly appears. At the entrance keep to the right and there is a dedicated guest park (shaded and umbrellas thoughtfully provided in case of need) accessed via an intercom. It is then a 100 meter walk through the gardens to the main entrance located at the rear of the property. Location wise there are fabulous views from the guest dining room looking back to the mountains and the abbey and large grounds to relax (and swim) in. Our room on the ground floor actually was really more of a suite with an entrance hall, a bath and a separate shower area and had an exceptionally comfortable bed and was beautifully decorated in Italian country style . Our hostess spoke very little English so communication was very much in sign language but the warmth of her welcome was clear as we were offered coffee and cake on arrival. Breakfast the next morning consisted of fresh bread, cheese, ham and sweet treats including muffins that she somehow managed to convey were homemade For a price of just over 65 a night, this was one of the best nights of our 10 day trip. 15 minutes from the town and about 30 minutes from the Abbey, Le Ninfee is and an ideal location for exploring the area around Cassino. As well as the CWGC British cemetery in the town there is a German cemetery about 8 miles further into the mountains and a Polish cemetery and memorial up on the hill behind the Abbey that make a splendid hours walk rewarded with stunning views.

We stayed at this B&B a couple of days ago. It looks even more beautiful in real life than in pictures. The villa is beautiful, set on a huge property with trees, a pond, a swimming-pool and a gorgeous view on the surrounding mountains. One of the mountains had a castle on top, everywhere one looked was magical (if one likes peace, green and nature). The room was simple but the decoration was cosy, reminded me of things my grandmother would use to decorate her house. The bathroom had both a giant bathtub and a shower, very convenient if two people need to get ready at the same time. Breakfast was delicious, I just wished there were a few more salty alternatives. Otherwise everything was eaten quite fast by the two of us ;). We received a warm welcome and both wished we could have stayed longer. Next time we drive through Italy (which is bound to be soon again), we will definitely stay there.

We had the most wonderful one night stay at Le Ninfee. After a full day's tour of Monte Cassino arriving at Le Ninfee was paradise! The 360 degree views are simply stunning and the monastery can be seen in the distance. The pool was a real treat after the heat of the day and the grounds were a beautiful place for total relaxation. Sylvana and her husband were fantastic hosts. We were given an assortment of fresh fruit juices on our arrival and chilled water by the pool. The pretty rooms were comfortable and clean and being a family of 5 we had a floor to ourselves. A truly beautiful home. I'd booked an evening meal in advance and was not disappointed- the home cooking was delicious and after two huge courses of cold meats, cheeses, vegetables, salad and pasta we had no room for the steak dish! Our children who normally don't eat courgettes loved the creamy pasta dish! On leaving early the next morning we were driven to the train station in two cars. Nothing was too much trouble- such attentive hosts, despite our poor attempts at pigeon Italian! We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful inside and out, Le Ninfee lives up to it's name of "the water lilies". Every place you turn is a delight to the eye. We enjoyed two nights and two breakfasts and would stay again and again. The rest of our visit was hectic, but Le Ninfee was a haven of quiet and calm. It helps to have a GPS or smartphone and to understand that Le Ninfee can be reached from either direction on the tiny country lane that the B&B driveway enters. Once found, it is just minutes from most of the Cassino sights. Our only quibble was that towels were not large and luxurious, but I'd just ask for two.

Fortunately Le Ninfee is well sign posted on the narrow roads leading to the property, (our GPS got confused), but well worth the drive given a stunning home in a magnificent location. A lovely greeting from the host and a welcome coffee. The room was very large, magnificently decorated, a stunning large bathroom and toilet / shower. There's aircondtioning and a tv. Everything is so well considered, lovely soaps, and furniture make it a home away from home. Breakfast is plentiful, sitting in the beautiful garden room. The surrounding grounds and swimming pool are beautifully maintained and peaceful. Totally recommend this property.
