A mountain chalet in scenic area we used as a stopover to see the two famous castles Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. Room and ensuite bathroom we had was quite tight. The breakfast variety was not quite as good as I thought a family run hotel might be. Friendly staff. Amazing location that will take you breath away.

    • Decent visit in a country hotel

Stopped here for a night while in the area to see Neuschwanstein and decided to try a country gasthaus instead of a hotel in town. Nice quiet location near a lake and several farms. Good bathroom. Average sleep quality. There is a good restaurant in site. WiFi was very poor.

    • Horribile overpriced place

Stayed in this "hotel" in June 2019. This was the most expensive hotel in our 9 day trip all around Germany. And by far the worst one. To start, this is really an old farm house. Really old. With all the pleasures of a farm. There were cows all around it and a horse table right under the balcony. So the killing smell of manure is everywhere, absorbed by the walls and furniture, even if you close the windows. Which you cannot really do because obviously there is no air conditioning. There is a patio outside with tables for those who like to enjoy some food and beer, but I cannot imagine even thinking about food in this kind of smell all around you. The balcony in our room looked too dirty and scary to come out to, with spider webs everywhere and some dead bird or bird nest in one corner (didn't bother to check). The room walls are also stained and dirty, probably haven't been painted in years - nothing like the pictures you see on their web site. The bathroom amenities include only a huge community pool style soap bottle on the shower wall, which in our case was completely empty and despite their promises was never refilled. The staff is not really friendly or willing to help anyways. There was a burnt out light bulb in our bedroom (probably for years). The manager said he didn't have a replacement bulb of that kind. I asked for an alternative, like a standing lamp or a table lamp of any kind, but he refused to do anything, saying if it is too dark for me to unpack my suitcase in the bedroom I could simply do it in the living room. I won't even mention the little things like broken window locks or missing kettle parts. On the positive side, the breakfast was really good. But it is definitely not worth it. The hotel is claiming to be really close to the castles, and it is true, but there are plenty of hotels in much nicer areas, like Fssen, only 5 more minutes away. It is also not really that close to the lake. To sum up, there is no point staying in this hotel, especially for the price they are asking.

    • Quaint country hotel with amazing food!

Located a few kilometers from the main attractions in the area (you'll need a car or bicycle). Tucked away in the farm area. Our room was the comfort double (misleading name of you're American... It has one king size bed which was very comfortable). It was larger than the other rooms we stayed at in Germany. Very clean and tidy. Pretty view of the mountains and pastures from our balcony. The best part was the dinner! It was a homemade rustic Bavarian meal. We shared creamy noodles with mushrooms (which was quite delicious!) I had the salmon dish which came atop an entire plate of seasonal vegetables (peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, and potatoes) and my husband had a bacon-wrapped Schnitzel with cheesy spatzel... It was the best meal we had in Germany! Even if you prefer accommodations closer to town, you really must make a dinner reservation here. The family that runs it is wonderful.

    • What a great family run hotel.

Loved this hotel, it has great charm and character. Fantastic countryside all around. Food was delicious here with good service. Rooms not modern but in character of the surroundings. Very convenient and local to the castles in the area. Would stay again.
