It is a good choice to stay here. Very neat decoration of the hotel and the room. Room was well equipped even with a small terrace. Quite location. Breakfast buffet was comparably good. Dinner was ok but not as good as some reviews suppose. Overall a good choice

Stayed here before and after a walking holiday. Would recommend. The only thing it could do with is a proper outside bar area - maybe I was there at the wrong time but if there was one it was not fully functioning. Food excellent - regained the lbs I had walked off

We stayed at La Varangue twice, and had very different experiences. One room was in the old part of the inn. Although the lobby and common areas of the inn are charming, the older rooms less so. They are more tired and dated than charming. There was very worn indoor-outdoor carpeting in the bathroom, and there was absolutely no sound insulation. Our room was directly over the restaurant. It wasnt simply a matter of being able to hear sounds from the restaurant it sounded as if the conversations were actually taking place inside our room. We were up until 1:00 in the morning due to the noise from the restaurant. I would rate our experience in this room as mediocre at best. The second room was a very nicely refurbished room in the adjacent annex. The bathroom was modern, as was the furniture. The room had new windows with excellent soundproofing. We slept like babies! We were delighted with this room. Bottom line: your experience can vary tremendously depending on which room you get. Id strongly recommend one of the new rooms.

We selected this hotel for the end of our tour because of the restaurant and when we arrive to stay at the hotel, were told there is no room. Even worse we have to have a guard walk us to a restaurant up the road. Tried to discuss the issue with reception and they could not have cared less.

A beautiful, small hotel tucked away by the Presidential Palace, conveniently close to Tana's attractions in the High Town. We stayed here for 2 nights at the start of our trip and 1 at the end. Our room was large and airy, with a small private courtyard outside. Very comfy bed! Super bathroom with lots of hot water. The whole hotel, indoors and out, is jammed full of antique collections which give it a quaint European feel. The dinner menu is decidedly French - we had a delicious meal but as there is only one vegetarian option we ate out on the other evenings. Breakfast was a wonderful continental buffet, taken on the terrace overlooking the garden. Excellent coffee, juices, croissants etc. The tortoises entertain but the big fluffy dog also deserves a mention. It's not the cheapest hotel but it is great value for money. A very special place - highly recommended!
