Advantages as follows for me: Very clean, close to centre. Altea and Benidorm public transport was just about 3 minutes walk from hotel. Nice views of beach and seating outside main bar and dance area. My room and bathroom were nice sizes. Lovely views from roof top area. Regarding evening shows there where three good evenings which included Flamenco Trio other two evenings a couple of great dancers. Disadvantages as follows for me: Other entertainment during the evening was not that good, two guys playing awful music and music played on the loop was mainly Spanish, no modern music whatsoever, people where doing mostly Line Dancing and Tango's. For me they do not cater for everybody regarding the music it is aimed at the Spanish guests and the older generation, some that did not even stay at the hotel. Food was so so, nothing special, so I ended up eating out sometimes, roast beef was awful so chewy and fatty, coffee was awful could not even finish it. Had to queue sometimes in restaurant towards the end of the week of my visit, because they closed part of the dining area. Decor in my room was awful dark green, furniture so old fashioned and needs modernising, was quite depressing. Nobody informed me that beach towels where available to guests, found out the day I was leaving whilst a reception. Roof top swimming pool was very shallow and small. Need porters to help people with their suitcases up the stairs and ramp entrance to the hotel, saw many elderly people struggling.

We spent a week there brilliant location for the beech and restaurants been to Albir many times have family there but was the-first time we stayed in the kaktus lovely clean hotel staff lovely and food was great we paid for two evening meals which was great value and the choice was must try the British night and the Norwegian night the choice was so much if we had one down side this was the evening entertainment we found that this let it down same nearly every night but apart from that I would recommend it if you love the beech this is the ideal location yes we would go back again

The location of Hotel Kaktus, Albir, is the first thing to note: right next to the level promenade and the sea with an easy walk to the town centre. The restaurant provides an exceptional variety of meals, based on a buffet style. Rooms are excellent with at least a partial sea view. The standards of reception and cleaning services are first rate. There is a great bar with very efficient staff. It is definitely a hotel you return to on another occasion. The main drawback for some people would be the evening entertainment, which is generally limited to dancing, great for the dancers (but not a deterrent for those like my wife and I who don't dance any longer). Nor would I recommend the hotel for families with younger children. L'Albir is a good, quiet small town with plenty of cafes, restaurants, hairdressers and shops with a Sunday market and bus rides to other markets. There is a good bus service to Benidorm and Altea.

I've just got back from a 10 day stay at the Kaktus. It's 5 years since I was last there and found the hotel as lovely as ever. Friendly and efficient reception staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Hard working waiting staff always smiling in both restaurant and bar. The hotel is impeccably clean and well maintained. The food is even better than I remembered with themed nights 4 times a week. Plenty of choice for gluten free. The rooftop terrace is wonderful with fabulous views. Buses run frequently from close by the hotel. An amazing holiday and I can't wait to go back!
