We recently stayed here during the Sheep Capital Lamb Camp. I was a little nervous because of the age of this hotel but yes, its old but its clean. The staff was helpful and friendly, beds were comfortable (there was a slight smell in our room that I noticed but it just smelled like carpet cleaner or something like it). We ate at the restaurant and the pizza and chicken quesadillas were great but it did take awhile to get our food. My boys loved all the activities to do (pool tables, ping pong, putt putt, and swimming) which are all indoors.

On arrival at the flash reception told no ground floor rooms so of on a journey of discovery to find ours , not easy . On finding the room its ok but rather boring and not a Pearl at all , yes clean but in no way special , just a boring thing in a boring block . The interior of this block contains a swimming pool and bar, which appears to be deserted. As of 6am this morning a distinct lack of cars at this place and maybe some empty rooms on the ground floor ?

Worst expericance ever, do not stay there, also complained to gm, was told id get part of my money back, never did and have been given the run around since then.

Im really shocked that this hotel has positive reviews! Im pretty easygoing when it comes to hotels. I believe i usually get the quality that I pay for. Not so at this place. Our stay was awful from the start. We tried to see if we could check in an hour early, but were turned away. When we got back at check in time, the front desk was slammed with people. They were flustered and unwilling to put our familys three rooms near each other as we had requested multiple weeks prior to our stay. In fact, there is a separate building behind the main building. Thats where our room ended up. We went with the flow and headed to the back 40. Aside from it seeming like I was in prison when walking up the stairs to our room, it was disgusting. Thats where these pictures come from. I went back to the front desk and asked them to switch us to the main building. Once again the front desk clerk tried to tell me that he was fully booked and couldnt change our room. I explained that I found it highly unlikely that every single guest has checked in and the hotel was full by 4 pm. He was clearly annoyed with me but he did manage to switch our room to the main building. It took him about 5 minutes to figure it out. Im not sure why this was such an issue. I have worked in the hotel industry before, and I know that its not that big of a deal to switch a room. Anyway, our second room was not as dingy, dark and smelly, but it definitely wasnt what I would expect for $100 a night. The A/C was loud. The walls were paper thin. The bedding consisted of a sheet, a tablecloth-like material, and a thin blanket I found in a drawer. Breakfast was also bad. The only positive is that they allow pets and have a pretty good location. Back to the Red Lion for our future San Angelo trips.
