So much to see and learn in this grand hall. The family history of the Cawleys is very interesting and sad from the loss of three sons in WW1 and one son in WW2 to the compelling information of Edward (Teddy) Croft-Murray being part of the Monuments Men in WW2. The displays of clothes from the 1700s is awesome particularly the Mantua. Found the laundry room of real interest. My husband enjoyed trying on the wigs and jackets in the servants quarters, we did have a laugh.

Having visited Berrington previously on a cold day several years ago, when the surrounding scenery couldnt be seen due to low cloud, it was a delight to see the site on a sunny day and get a sense of the impact of the landscaping that had taken place in the past. In terms of the house, although there are works taking place on the dome, we were given details of the restoration by a very informative guide who pointed out various aspects to us. We also had an excellent talk about the naval paintings from the guide, who obviously has a passion for the Hall. One of our favourite NT houses!

I was doing the face painting for berrington hall. A 5k and 10k run was well organised. Sadly the weather didn't play ball...... dried up on the afternoon. Live music throughout the day as well Beautiful gardens.

The enjoyment of the house is rather hampered by the essential work on the dome. This means that the main stairs are useable but encased in scaffolding. The pictures have been removed from the hall and are on display in the downstairs room making close examination easy. The wall garden and seeing the Capability Brown curved wall was a highlight for me.
