    • Returning guest!!

We LOVE Iberostar! We have been here 4 times, the food and service is amazing. The hotel has taken a lot of precautions for Covid... We feel safer here than at our local Walmart. Food is great, variety has decreased most likely due to low volume and covid precautions. Activities are plentiful, yoga and water aerobics with Perla were fantastic. The wait staff is very pleasant and happy to service. The grounds are wonderful and beach is clean. Covid testing is provided by hotel before you return home. Please tip your waiters and waitresses and maids!!! They work so hard to provide a true vacation for you and keep everything clean.

My husband and I returned on Sunday from 8 nights in paradise! We were very hesitant to take a Covid vacation, but so glad we did! I have never felt so safe...the hotel & staff go above and beyond to take measures to protect everyone! I dont know how these workers can work outside in 90 degree heat in a mask all day...I never seen anyone ever even lower their mask for a breath of fresh air! Room-we booked a ground floor Oceanside room...amazing view...seen the sun come up over beautiful blue water every morning! Everything you need is in your room...shampoo, conditioner, body wash, liquid soap, lotion. Because of Covid there are no coffee pots in the room. We brought along a portable electric tea kettle, cups, tea & instant coffee...perfect for those sunrises!! There are two refillable glass water bottles in the room. We brought along 2 large plastic refillable water bottles. Worked out perfectly! Beach-cleaned every day. You can walk for miles! No problem getting a beach chair...there was hardly anyone there! The hotel was only 10% booked. About 200 people in a hotel that holds 2000! Pool-Huge!!!! Clean! Warm! Bring a floatie...most of the pool is over 5 feet deep! Jungle-Amazing! Found more & more animals on every walk we went on. Lots of different ways to go and things to find! Beware...if you have mobility issues these walks will be very difficult. The pathways are very uneven cobblestone. Beautiful scenery, but you have to be careful not to take a header! Entertainment- These people have hardly anyone to perform for and they still give it their all! Ask the guys to play Sweet Caroline by the pool...So Good So Good! Lol We only made it up to see 2 evening shows...both were awesome...the Fire Show was amazing! We really enjoys the different singer in the lobby bar every night Bars-Omg! These bartenders & servers are so wonderful! Swim up bar is closed, but the pool bar is so accessible there was never a problem getting a drink! Bring a insulated mug! The lobby bar...oh the Margaritas & Tequila Sunrises that Dari graciously kept bringing us!! Yummm! Restaurants-Well, that was the one area we were not satisfied. Snack bar had good burgers & nachos. The steakhouse has a good Rib Eye & it is worth the money to buy the delicious lobster. If your adventurous try the grilled Octopus at Mediterranean...a first for me & it was delicious! Dont get me wrong...your not going to starve, but the cold items are never cold and the hot items are never hot. I had stomach issues everyday. The buffet variety is just not good and only certain restaurants are reservable for certain nights. The issues we had may be just because of Covid. It would be our only reason for not featuring g to this hotel. Get the APP on your phone before you arrive and the concierge will get you logged in when you get there. We used it for everything! You need something...just use the app! Never been to a hotel so quick to accommodate! Covid testing was easy & yes, a little painful! Had our antigen test back in 3 hours! For the price this place is a true gem! We miss our view, animals, drinks, and the amazing people that works there!

Great beach and pool, workers are all fantastic and very hard workers. Food and adult beverages are decent. Would go back again! I went during COVID so resort was at only 20% capacity, no towel games at the pool or beach which was fantastic. Eating at the buffets do get old after 9 days there. Drinks get old after awhile, need to add different beer selections and more top shelf liquor.

    • Unique Property - Amazing Beach

      Reviewed 19 January 2021

Wow! This property is perfect for nature lovers complete with a jungle! This resort is a bit older and grounds are beautiful but requires a lot of walking. Most walkways are natural stone and a little rough but there are smooth ones around the outside. There are waterfalls, monkeys and various other animals on the resort. We had amazing beach front rooms but we had a little trouble with the key card reader the first day and were moved to the room next to our friends. All good after that. A special shout out to Allen at the front desk for making that happen. Guest services was very concerned and called regularly to make sure everything was good and we were satisfied. Things are a little different due to COVID protocols, it the staff were so happy to have tourists there and very friendly and helpful. Food was good at all restaurants but we loved the steakhouse and Japanese steakhouse. The beach is amazing and huge! No seaweed issues and beautiful small waves in the clear turquoise water. No beach service for drinks, you have to go get the. Not sure if this is related to COVID or not. Nightly entertainment was good too. Service in the lobby bar was good as well. All staff works very hard to ensure that guests have a great time. We loved our stay there. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars was the door problems we encountered.

    • As wonderful as I remember

      Reviewed 18 January 2021

Iberostar Quetzal is just as beautiful and relaxing as I remember. This is our 3rd time at this specific Iberostar and it remains my favorite. They each have something special but I prefer the jungle! The trees, pathways, waterfalls and animals had me an awe! The Tucan side is closed for rooms but their restaurants are open. Seems the Quetzal side was less than half occupied. We had no problem getting dinner reservations (Japanese remains our favorite because we love Hibachi style cooking), chairs at beach and pool were easy to find. We had a group of 10 and it was easy for us all to sit together. I like the food there, we've been going to Iberostars for about 20 years and we've always enjoyed it. We did have a couple people in our group that prefer fast food style and cheese melted over everything, and more fatty foods--- if that's what you prefer you may have a hard time finding something you like. Breakfast meals had slower service than other meals but staff was friendly. There is always a buffet open. breakfast and dinner on Tucan side, lunch by the beach/pool area and our young adult kids would go to another in the middle of the night. One thing that is new is the glass water bottles (2 in each room). There are water dispensers on each floor for self fill up. That is better than the plastic bottles they use to stock. The glass bottles are very nice and big. One of the couples in our group didn't like their mattress. The staff took them to 3 different unoccupied rooms to feel other mattresses until they found one they liked, then the staff brought that mattress to their room and set it up. I thought this was above and beyond. Our mattress was firm and we like that! The shows have improved over the years. The entertainment at night was great! The Quetzal lobby also had music each evening with an open bar. So you have 2 places for entertainment each evening. The lobby bar, bars in buffet and bar by the pool/beach were always open when I was awake! The bar in the adult pool is closed but you can still swim in the adult pool. I did notice ,because of Covid I assume, there is not as many activities in the day time. We use to see the Star Friends out and about encouraging everyone to get involved. I didn't see that this year. When we did see Star Friends, they are nice as always! Hard workers! We were in building 24. The monkeys were a big hit. Sitting on our balconies and making noises! Beach and pool areas always well kept. Overall the place truly is just as beautiful as before. My only caution would be for people who can NOT walk well. the pathways are not flat and they have alot of twist and turns. I know my parents would have a hard time here. Other Iberostars have easier walking. But the jungle is the jungle!
