Stayed with my girlfriend's for a break before school hols. Lovely place and people. Quiet, clean and very comfortable. Lodge had everything we needed for a great few days. Hot tub and Decking area gave a lovely view of open countryside. Close to Stow on Wald and Banbury for days out Will be back. Thank you everyone who made our stay enjoyable

    • Relaxing break

Visited here for a relaxing break, stayed in the Kingham Plus lodge as we had a dog. Plenty of waking routine and lovely little fishing lake close by. Hot tub was great in the evenings and easy to operate. Lovely local pubs in the area and only a short walk . Lodge was well equipped and very clean and tidy. Staff very friendly and helpful! See you next year !!

Absolutely stunning location and cabin. Decorated to a very high standard, luxurious and surprisingly warm and completely fuctional as it would be in a house. Had a fantastic time and would stay again. Recommend for either a couples getaway or a short family break. Staff was friendly and informative also.

    • Dirty and tired accommodation.

      Reviewed 17 July 2019

We were allocated lodge 23 from Monday 15th to 19th July. This was booked through Hoseasons Autographs range so we were expecting some level of luxury. It cost us over 700 for the four of us. Arrival and check in went smoothly and the welcome from staff was really pleasing. As we entered the lodge we could immediately see things were not as advertised on Hoseasons website. The whole lodge was in dire need of an upgrade. The bedrooms were poorly decorated and clearly requiring a proper clean. All rooms were dirty, dusty and fabrics marked and stained! Yuk! The curtains in the twin room were very dirty and stained with something? The twin beds had clearly gone beyond their lifespan. They had no spring left and were very uncomfortable. The sheet on one of the beds was extremely worn and had holes in it. The furniture was tired and appeared to have been hand painted? The master bedroom was hideous. Awful decor including a huge hand painted cupboard. The pillows smelt strongly of sick and the throw had a patch of brown straining over it! !! The bed itself had again gone beyond its reasonable lifespan as it had sunk in the middle. The door to the en suite wouldnt open properly due to the floor being swollen by water from the shower. The shaver plug was defective so I couldnt use my shaver. At this point we just wanted to leave. The lamp shades on the bedside lamps were stained and one wasnt fixed in position correctly. The dishwasher trays were badly rusted and dirty. We were not happy to use this appliance because of this. One bulb was defective in the cooker hood as was a further bulb in the lights hanging over the dining table. The roller blind to the kitchen window was Disgusting; covered in grease and badly stained. I had to roll this back up as I couldnt look at it all evening. Yuk! The washing up bowl was old and needed to be simply renewed. The decking was very poorly maintained. The area area around the hot tub was built up with muck and leaves. Clearly this area hadnt been cleaned for some time. All windows throughout were dirty and required a clean. The UPVC windows themselves were poorly fitted and it took some force to open and close them. As a result of the smelly pillows we had to sleep on some towels instead. We were very disappointed and upset. After all we had paid over 700 for a 4 night break! We did of course report the issues to the staff at Bluewood. I must say they were very nice and did try to resolve some of the issues. They did pressure wash the decking which made a massive difference. They also washed the curtains in the twin room and replaced the defective bulbs. Clearly a lot of the issues were not realistically able to be resolved during our stay. The pillows still smelt of sick despite them being replaced? The number of issues were simply too much for us to accept so we decided to leave early. We have been offered a refund of part of the holiday as a result. I cant understand why it takes the customer to highlight the issues before the staff decide to do something about it? I would have popped to B&Q and purchased a new roller blind and new lamp shades after it had been highlighted. We were very disappointed as it formed part of our annual holiday of which we had looked forward too for many months. The lodge needs completely decorating throughout. We wont be visiting Bluewood Lodges again and we are unable to recommend them to anyone else. Come on, sort it out Bluewood!
