    • Best place in Jaisalmer

Very good place to stay in Jaisalmer in the old city, close to the fort, temples and beautiful havelis. In a calm and quiet street, with very good view to the city and surrounding landscape. Perfect for sunset viewing. Rooms are spacious and fresh and very clean. The place is very well decorated, the food, both indian and non Indian is amazing. Very good breakfast too. More specialy Navin, the manager of the place is very very nice and helpful, he will give you very good advices and nice conversation. We got an upgrade at arrival and he kept our luggage and let us take a shower after our desert safari. 100% recommended.

Reservation was smooth with owner Pankaj who kept us engaged from the time numbers were exchanged and booking was done. Brilliant snaps came at regular intervals and all help extended. The beauty was that this property is inside the fort. So you cannot drive in as there is restrictions on vehicle movement. We hopped on to an auto and made the final stretch from the fort gate to the property. Some guests came on bikes as during the day even autos are not allowed. Once you reach the property feeling is amazing. Its someones house converted into a hotel. The interiors have been very tastefully done vibrant and colourful. The terrace is awesome and it feels you are sitting on the top of the fort. Breathtaking views in the night as well as the lights come up and you feel one with the fort literally as you are lazing and sitting on the fort walls. Morning views of the city are also great. Moving inside the fort is easy as one doesn't need to walk much The service by Navin and team is awesome to say the least- you cannot complain and will not feel that the owner is not there. Since its a house so no lifts etc and literally home made food which is homely yet delicious to say the least. Food is but completely vegeterain as this is on the Brahmin side of the fort so for non vegeterian best of luck as even onion is not allowed. Rooms are neat. Some have balconies so you feel like sitting on the top of the fort wall. The property could be maintained better and as you see now that it is a hotel some of the last mile needs to be done. Some of the finer things are missed like say having nice cutlery, good table tops, geysers sometime not working or the breakfast being a bit better. While the staff as in the boys strive to do the best and make up in the best way one can, I feel a little focus on infra will make it better still So if you like to stay in the fort, eat veg and have a good view this is the property to be.....

This hotel is embedded in the fort along with other houses. In other words, it is a creative force that converted the residential place in to a boutique hotel. It has approximately 10 rooms each of different size and beautiful decorations. Couple of rooms have sit out balcony. It has a nice rooftop restaurant In house cooks were always surprising us with hot and quality food

    • Knock Knock Knocking on History's Door

Knocking on history's door, is the big draw to this hotel. Since it is located inside the living fort, one feels one with history. The hotel very sweetly offered to do an airport pick up for us. Since it's located up in the fort, the hotel itself is unapproachable by car. So they transfer you (and your bags) into a three wheeler, and then dodging bike and bovine, you rattle up the fort and into the narrow cobbled lanes that lead up to Hotel Victoria. The hotel is small, the views big. Very redeeming. We sat upon the terrace or within the little window nooks in the room, gazing into the beyond. Looking out gives you a sense of what it feels like to be with in a walled stone space, at an enormous height....so you catch a glimpse of the rounded stone fort structure, the towers, the turrets, pigeons nesting in stone corners...and you get views that overlook Jaisalmer city. These views are most magical at sundown. It's dramatic. Breakfast too, was one of views. There was no buffet, to our disappointment. But the staff promised they would bring whatever we wanted, a little grudgingly though, as they negotiate steep steps from the kitchen to the terrace where meals are served. But as our American friends say, (rolling their 'r's" and with an upward inflection), "That's their problem!" Breakfast on the terrace was regal. We fed voraciously on the views, and went into a camera overdrive. Food was strictly below average. It came in clumsy stainless steel...the pan cake was a paratha...the coffee, (also in a steel tumbler/mug) was instant and indifferent... It appears that the property has the potential to do much better, there was a sense of neglect, what with faded torn table cloths, plumbing woes in our bathroom: (a little tiny, you need to leave your knees out, or hug them to your chin when you go in). That maybe because the owner Pankaj is away at Surat, and a bunch of boys runs the space. Pankaj is very helpful, but if only his long distance hospitality had put a glow to our stay. We shifted out after a night to an alternative property. What befuddles me is how did this hotel get itself a 9.6 rating? Its great on location, but fairly poor on cleanliness, size, amenities, food. Very tastefully done up in the vibrant colours of Rajasthan. Would I return: No.
