    • Excellent hotel in a perfect position.

Excellent small hotel. Marco and his staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Everything spotless. Lovely meals. Perfect position right on the lakeside, quiet but only two minutes stroll from town in one direction and lakeside walk in the other. Would thoroughly recommend. Hope to stay again soon. First class all round.

We have fancied staying in this hotel for some time, ever since we first saw it on a previous visit to Malcesine. After a disastrous long journey from Gatwick where we had a flight delay and then a flight diversion we arrived at the hotel some hours later than we should have. We had a lovely welcome though from Marco and Jasmine and after being shown to our room were invited down to the dining room for a hot meal, even though the restaurant had been closed for several hours. No cold plate or curly sandwiches for us!!! Our bedroom on the second floor overlooked the front of the hotel and the mountains. It was quite small, but beautifully decorated and clean, with a large flat screen tv (not many English channels ), mini bar fridge (which you are not allowed to put your own drinks in) and free safe which was more than big enough for all of our valuables, including iPads and cameras. The room was mainly white with two white chairs, an open wardrobe and concealed lighting. Plus a balcony with a table and two chairs. The air con was free and quiet, but it was positioned in such a way that it blew cold air over the head of the bed. Consequently we did wake up cold some nights, but if we turned it off, we were too hot! The whole hotel was tastefully decorated in pale greys, cream and white and the dining room was stunning with huge glass windows overlooking the lake. Because of this, everyone in the dining room really had a view of the lake too, where ever they sat. We were shown to our seats the first night and we sat at the same table for breakfast and evening meal for the whole holiday. Breakfast was mainly self service of meats, cheese, cereals, toast, pastries, croissants etc, but eggs...fried, soft boiled and scrambled were brought to the table if requested. Tea and coffees were also served at the table. The evening meal was 4 courses.....of which two of the courses were chosen at breakfast, when Marco came round to your table to take your order. These were, the starter and main course. The other courses were the salad bar and the dessert. The food on the whole was good and service in the restaurant was both friendly and efficient. Outside, at the back of the hotel there was a lovely decked area overlooking the lake with about 8 loungers and some tables and chairs. The loungers were usually bagged quite early if it was hot! The large jacuzzi would have perhaps been more inviting if it had been heated! There was also a small garden area with more loungers and chairs. And a small car park. WiFi wasnt the best and I did struggle to get a connection, but Jasmine was very helpful with that. In fact Jasmine was a real credit to the hotel, always smiling and ready to help in any way. As others have said Marco was very hands on, but still had time to chat and joke with everyone. Just be aware that at the end of the holiday when paying the drinks bill, if its under 100 you must pay in cash and the tax must also be paid in cash. The hotel is situated just 4 minutes walk from the harbour and ferries.....and the shops and cafes start even closer. A truly remarkable hotel with wonderful staff in a fantastic position.....what more can I say!

Having stayed on Lake Garda before but not in Malcesine and having seen this lovely hotel from the ferry my wife and I decided on our next trip to book this hotel. We have not been disappointed at all and it has lived up to and surpassed our expectations in every way. Its not the cheapest but in this case you get what you pay for, excellence in every department from the splendidly decorated and equipped rooms to the beautifully prepared food and not least the front of house staff who see to all your reasonable requests. The owner Marco with his dry sense of humour and Mohammed the waiter with his many jokes and humorous tales about his Grandmothers ability to prepare the delicious desserts, please dont be offended by their manner its all in good fun. The lovely Jasmine in reception who looks after all your enquires with Marco. Marco does run a tight ship and has a few but important rules of the house. Dont expect to bring your own food or drink to consume in the hotels public areas, in your room yes! but hey thats no different to most other hotels, pubs etc, its a business when all is said and done. Dont use the mini bar in your room for your water etc purchased in the shops and he asks that if you do consume drinks or food in your room or balcony dispose of your own waste, its easy at this hotel because not twenty paces from the front door are some recycling bins. The room we stayed in was small but Marco took our empty cases to store downstairs, but the balcony was big and had mountain and Lake views to the south. A point to note for non lake view rooms as well as the decking, landing stage and garden area with splendid lake views, two lake view balconies on level 1 & 2 at the end of the corridors are for any guests use, we sat on them ourselves a couple of times. The hotel does have bigger rooms at additional cost, I dont believe these are available through TUI but you can book direct with the hotel on their websites or by phone. Give it a try, push the boat out you will not be disappointed. The location is to die for.

Stayed for 7 nights, booked as a package with TUI in a side lake view room. The room was quite small with a tiny bathroom with limited toiletries (no shower caps) but the balcony was large, however due to the position of the room (101) facing north the room and balcony were constantantly in the shade and the lake view was limited. I did email prior to arrival to ask for a room on the south side, but didnt get one ! On a positive note the dining experience at the Vega was lovely, akin to sitting in a good restaurant with wonderful lake views, plus the service and food were great too. This is a boutique hotel with small whirl pool a small area of decking that holds 8 sun loungers and a few tables but you have to be around early to manage to get one, otherwise there is a small garden area with a few sun beds and tables, ok if you dont mind being "eaten alive" due to the grass and shrubbery. Pity they cant extend the decking area as this is a lovely spot to sit and watch the world go by or just sun bathe. The staff and owner are lovely friendly people, the proximity of the hotel to town is just 2 minutes, great to have cafes, bars, shops and ferry point on your doorstep, overall a great little hotel but would look to book a full lake view room if available.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at Hotel Vega. What a great place to stay - the hotel is spotlessly clean and decorated in grey/white which gives off a minimalist but elegant appearance. Our room (102) and en-suite was again spotless and average size with French doors leading to a very large L shaped balcony with the most stunning views of the lake and mountains. If there wasnt so many places to visit you could happily sit there all day admiring the view! The dining room overlooks the lake and mountains. You are allotted a table for your stay and wherever you are seated the views are stunning. Breakfast - continental with a good choice of meat, cheese, cereals, yoghurts, freshly cut fruit and toast. Also eggs are cooked to order. You choose dinner at breakfast time, always a salad bar available plus a choice of three starters and main courses and desserts. The food they cook is delicious. Marco, the owner, takes his job of running a first class hotel very seriously and makes sure standards are very high. He also likes a bit of banter as do Mohamed and Flammo who work so hard in the restaurant. They are such an asset to the hotel. Internet signal is a bit patchy but in such a beautiful place as Malcesine it doesnt seem that important. The harbour is only two minutes walk away - a great place for lunch or a late evening coffee. Lots of cobbled alleys to explore, finding new ones every day. The castle is well worth a visit as is the cable car ride up Monte Baldo. Ferry across to Limone a must. We would love to return to Malcesine and would definitely stay at Hotel Vega. Thank you Marco.
