The hotel has a wonderful location on the cliff above the beach and town. The staff are excellent and the dining areas are beautiful. The a la carte evening dining was absolutely brilliant and far exceeded our expectations. The beach restaurant is good. The room was a good size and the bathroom, particularly the shower, was very good, as was the air conditioning. The balcony may have had little privacy, but it did have an amazing view. The location allows good access to Sorrento and to various sites of interest such as Pompeii. The train station is only a few minutes' walk. Having its own beach is another plus, but note that In this part of Italy access to the beach can be a trek, even with a lift for part of the way. The cost of sunbeds and umbrella, as elsewhere, is high. The beach is shingle and pebbles and you may find swimming shoes useful to protect your feet. There is no swimming pool.

    • Not a 4star hotel, poor service and attitude.

The hotel has a great location with a lift to their private beach but after that it all goes down hill! Beach great but have to pay for sun beds etc after being told by reception it was free to guests. The breakfast is very poor and the service by the very grumpy waiters was even worse. My wife is gluten free so they provided bread and cakes, the cakes were out of date one had consume by 18/8/18! I told reception and gave them a cake no apology just a shrug of the shoulders? This was the 5th hote / B&B we stayed in on our holiday along the Amalfi Coast and by far the worst, especially as the service and great attitude we had experienced to date made the holiday even better! As a final note on the Hotel Sporting sign, one of their stars had fallen off showing only 3stars an omen I feel.

We stayed here for 5 nights in August 2018. The hotel is perched on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean and the vico equense marina. The hotel is not fantastically luxurious but has everything you need to relax. The rooms are good and modern - and the view from our room was absolutely fantastic. The private beach is accessed by a lift from the hotel and had nice facilities (beach bar etc.). The sun beds and umbrellas were a little expensive for a day at 28e but it is priceless to have a beach that close to your room. We only ate breakfast in the hotel, which was really quite poor. It took an age to get any service and the food was not worth getting out of bed for. I heard the dinner was of much better quality, but we preferred to eat in the town. The service was exceptional from most staff but we did encounter a couple of grumpy members of staff, which was a massive contrast to the general "can't do enough for you" attitude of the other staff.

We visited hotel sporting in July. We really loved everything in this hotel. Rooms were fine, price was right, value for money. The beach was super . The views were surely breathtaking. Breakfast not huge, but fine and delicious. Front desk very helpful. Honestly I cannot understand any negative comment for this hotel taking into consideration the pricing. I would surely visit it again one day. Especially rooms with terrace were so great.

On a hot summers evening, there can be no better place to eat than on the terrace of Hotel Sporting. We had risotto and pizza accompanied by salad and hot vegetables. The waiters were charming and unhurried (in a good way!). They were comfortable talking English or Italian. It was a lovely evening and reasonably priced too. To be recommended.
