    • Alpine Majesty

      Reviewed 01 September 2019

Beautiful sub-alpine and alpine hiking with spectacular 360 degree views. Majestic location. The rooms comes with breakfast, lunch and dinner, but if you're an early morning hiker the lodge offers fixings to make sandwiches for your trek. If canoeing is to your liking, the lodge provides canoes and great fishing tips.

    • you will like this place if you like hiking and good company

This is an underappreciated gem. It's relatively expensive, but very good value with a good special opportunity right now. My wife and I were back for the first time in years and very glad to hike the Provincial Park. The Lodge is well run with friendly staff and excellent food. After over 25 years of visits, Cathedral Lakes Lodge is still a wonderful place! Tom Perry Vancouver

    • Rustic, gorgeous and yummy!

      Reviewed 31 July 2019

This is our 2nd time there and we will go again! VERY rustic and not for the faint of heart. Breath-taking scenery. LOTS of hiking trail options. It's set by a beautiful lake, with mountains all around. Canoes are there for anyone's use. Hot tubs (sign up in advance) allow for relaxation and great viewing at the same time. We went with 3 other couples and everyone would like to return. The staff was over the top with friendliness and good advice and ... DELICIOUS meals!! This is a wilderness, rustic place. Don't go there if you are looking for luxury. Think old camp. Electricity goes off at 11:00pm. No TVs, spotty WiFi. But, that's our kind of place!!!

    • Harvie Walker Cabin Perfect for a Family of 5 or 6!

      Reviewed 31 July 2019

We spent 3 nights (which we would recommend!!! 2 would not have been enough, and 4 would have been better!!) in the Harvie Walker cabin with our kids: 5,4,and 1 year old. The kitchen was well stocked and preparing meals was easy with 4 burners, a tiny oven, and BBQ outside. The selling feature for us was the newly added bathroom: toilet, sink, and a huge bathtub with a gorgeous view! Very well designed with function in mind: the tile bathroom floors were always warm. There is a large firepit near the lake that lodge guests can use. We had great success fishing Quiniscoe Lake with a fly rod- the kids each caught their own fish! We ate the fresh cutthroat for dinner one night and it was delicious. We hiked every day - but note that the best-view hikes are considered 'strenuous' on the hiking map they give out, and there are tough scrambling sections that are not ideal for inexperienced hikers. There are plenty of easy hikes around the lakes and through the trees near the lodge but our favourite was the Rim Trail with breaks building inukshuks at Glacier Lake, Stone City and Ladyslipper Lake. The views are amazing and the kids were very excited to see whatever each new corner or peak would offer for views. It was a pricey vacation to stay in a cabin, but VERY worth it and we are already talking about returning next year!

    • A gem in the Cascade Mountains

      Reviewed 14 July 2019

Great place to visit. We hiked in (16 km straight up!) along mtn road to avoid the cost (120 pp) to gain access to the park. Brutal hike - but worth it. Do the Rim Trail - gorgeous views. Not a building in sight - all mountains. Wildflowers in full bloom in July. We camped beside the lodge - the folks at the lodge were very accommodating -cold beer, wifi etc there. In the alpine, mountain goats, pika, marmots, ptarmigan etc. The campground was well maintained. The lake has trout, cut-throat. I'm still sore from the hiking - paying for ride in is best for anyone 40+ (I'm 58!). This place reminded me of Lake O'Hara in Yoho Nat'l Park. Go. You won't regret it.
