This was our first Club Med experience and it left us with mixed emotions. We were there for a week-long family celebration that included 12 people, and the best feature of the resort was not having to make meal reservations for 12. The staff was amazing, but could not make up for the lack of activities or amenities offered (no real excursions available and only 2 dining facilities with limited hours). Only water sports and fitness classes are offered, with little else to occupy your time. Because the options were so limited, I braved my fear of the ocean and snorkeled for the first time ever, with the assistance and encouragement of an amazing water excursion team. This was a highlight of the week for sure! The beach and ocean are among the prettiest my husband and I have seen, but as a couple we would not return to this particular location. We loved it for our purposes, which were to reunite with family and relax, but if you are more active vacationers or just want some variety, this is not the place for you. Additionally, the resort is definitely dated. On a final note, our neighbors and family members had items stolen from their room and I had a pair of earrings taken from our room on our final morning immediately prior to checkout (which went undiscovered until I returned home to unpack and opened an empty box). I was surprised to hear about the theft next door while waiting at the airport but didnt think to check my own bag. I know they were taken because I bad packed them in my carry bag immediately before luggage pickup and leaving the room for breakfast prior to our airport transport. Luckily they are replaceable, but certainly not what you expect from a Club Med resort. Summary: Thankful for our down time with family, and thankful our agenda included only visiting with one another, but would not recommend this resort for couples or anyone looking to do anything other than relax on the beach or poolside. If you do go, make sure to also place valuables in the safe at all times.

The beach was amazing, the snorkeling was good, the water sports were great, the food was above average but ... an item was stolen from our room that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. The morning we were checking out we left our bags outside the door to our room, as instructed, and left a few personal items in the room as we went to grab breakfast. We had left $30 tip for the cleaning staff, a nice water bottle and my personal carry on (with ipad, speaker, iphone, etc.) in the room. After returning from breakfast we discovered that the tip money had been taken, but the room had not cleaned, and my water bottle was missing. I know where I had left it because I remembered as I was walking to breakfast that I had intended to bring it with me by had forgotten it on the nightstand. Nothing else was missing. My personal bag was out of site behind a small couch because it was next to my phone that was plugged into a charger. As I was checking out I asked if the cleaning staff had turned in the water bottle to the front desk or their supervisor. They eventually heard back from the supervisor and the water bottle was not to be found. I suspect that either someone stole the tip money and water bottle or the cleaning staff took the tip and stole my water bottle. I filled out a stolen item form at the front desk but I have not heard from Club Med. It is only a $35 water bottle but I liked it and would have liked to have continued using it. I left the resort feeling disappointed after a nice vacation with my family.

This was our 6th trip to this Club Med village. We are gold club members. What draws us to this village is purely the location which is pristine, undeveloped, relaxed and the diving is still nice. If I could rate only the destination, I would rate it 5 stars. However, the Club Med resort is a different story. It has been gradually deteriorating over the years in service, upkeep and now the food which has always been superb with chefs stations at every corner. The variety was exceptional as well. The food at this village, we considered to be the best out of all the villages we traveled. This year was a major turning point downwards and was a major disappointment. I was shocked to see the variety of food was literally cut in half, the taste and preparation was a disgrace. On one evening, I was shocked to see that the chefs creation was a pathetic tuna fish sandwich that a 10 year old can easily duplicate! That is an embarrassment. The grounds and landscaping are in dire need of restoration and upkeep. The paint is peeling, mildew growing on the support posts, concrete sidewalks cracked among other defects. The lack of sufficient air conditioning always seems to be an issue with the club med villages. After spending ALL day in the hot sun, there is noting more a guest wants, than to relax in an air conditioned environment, and enjoy dinner without having to continually wipe sweat off their forehead. Yet, the air is on, the doors and windows to the cafeteria are wide open, which brings in all the disgusting heat, humidity and flies that probably just left the mens room that make contact with your food! Absolutely disgusting! I have only seen the Chief once which was on our departure. The GOs primary objective is no longer to please the guests, their sole purpose is to party among themselves, which is obvious. The rooms are spacious yet outdated. Our housekeeper did an excellent job in keeping our room clean. Several nights prior to our departure, we requested a late check out of 11am. The person we spoke to via telephone at reception said it was not a problem, since we were gold members. The night prior to our departure, we stopped at reception to confirm this only to be scolded by reception manager Bianca, and with a poor attitude, advised us that we must be out of our room by 10am. We asked that the Chief contact us to discuss this matter, which he never did. All this fiasco just for an hour later check out request? Certainly not a professional way to conduct business! The only nice additions to the village is the gym and the second floor bar. The only problem is that they added rusty treadmills to the new gym and rusty fans in the new bar. What are they thinking? This is a disgrace to the hospitality industry and does not exists elsewhere with the exception of third word destinations. Because of these reasons, we have given up on Club Med and seek to find other desirable resorts to travel to, which are certainly abundant. Life is too short. Nick D.

    • Our 2nd Visit: More Quiet, More Kids, Less Multi-Cultural

Overview/Summary: we had a wonderful time and really enjoyed our stay. It was the G.O.s who went out of their way to make us feel welcomed (including some behind the scenes G.O.s who work in the office - Jesus and Carl from purchasing; Karen from finance, Eva the costume designer; and Audrey at excursions; other amazing G.O.s. named below). We had been to this club four years ago but in May. Then, there were many Americans and hardly any children. This time, going in mid-August, we were virtually the only Americans present and we were surprised by the large number of children and teenagers. Arrival: it was a bit confusing, and not as organized as other times. They were prepared for French and Italian speakers for orientation at the theater, but not us English-speakers. We were escorted out from the orientation as it began and walked to our room - not the friendliest welcome we have received at a Club Med. Our guide was friendly, but didnt tell us that we could grab a snack at La Pinta at that time. Also, they briefly lost our luggage for an hour - this may have been because prior to our arrival, we had requested a room in the 400s based on other reviews). Rooms: we stayed in room 409 which was closer to the diving center/gym/la pinta restaurant, and about an 8 minute walk to the pool area. Room was great - beautiful view, and very quiet. We tipped the maid $2 daily and the room was kept in great shape with fresh bottles of water each day. Animation and DJs: We watched Simon, Tommy, and JP work super hard to ensure the shows were great and music was always playing at the right time. On top of that, they were very friendly and we had a great time with them in the rare minutes they had to catch a breath. Sybille did great choreographing the shows. Tennis: Miguel was a great instructor for our beginners classes. On top of that, he went out of his way to find us for a few meals and we enjoyed his company and energy! Circuit Training Classes: I took four classes with Romain - amazing classes and a great coach! It was great; these classes were at 10am to get the day started off right. I wanted to take TRX classes but those classes were scheduled in the late afternoons which interfered with drinking time. Snorkeling: YaYa and Denis were extremely patient and helpful with us to accommodate potential motion sickness. They were a delight, and Denis unexpected bagpipe playing on the boat was memorable! Bartending: all the bartenders were great and super friendly. We brought our own yeti cups so we were able to get bigger drinks which lasted cold for a long time. Happy hour/atmosphere: compared to our visit here last year, and our visits to Turkoise, this was a much more quiet environment. The happy hours were not very exciting, and when I showed the chief of the village a video of a super fun and memorable Columbus landing party at the bar four years ago, he was not impressed. Zumba: my wife discovered Zumba at this club med four years ago with Gaja and Pat. This trip, Zumba was virtually non-existing except for one class in the water. The app showed two classes scheduled, but that was inaccurate. Crazy signs: There were definitely less crazy signs than other club meds, but still fun. We were hoping for more. Schedule/theme nights/App: some improvements are needed here. The app was not always accurate. The themed nights were switched without us knowing. We didnt get to wear our neon stuff for the black and neon night, which was replaced by a very elegant night (besides the elegant one in the same week). So for us there was no fun glow night, which we were prepared for and looking forward to. Coffee Games: an expected delight as Dan and Sybille led fun afternoon trivias at the bar. Food: As always, the food was great. Lots of variety. We didnt upgrade to buy wine or lobster to sit poolside, but white night is pool side anyway (which also included lobster for everyone). One night we made reservations (free) at La Pinta - the tapas were great and the view overlooking the ocean was beautiful. Sand Flies: These bit me all over, almost every night, and the bites were painful. This is despite wearing big repellant and baby oil. However, on the boutique store G.O.s advice, we bought Ocean Potion Instant Burn Relief from the boutique, and that really helped alleviate the itching! It was $29, and a bigger bottle is for sale on Amazon for $9, but worth every penny nonetheless. Departure: Very smooth but we realized we could have spent another hour at the resort before taking the bus over, however it was nice that the airport now has an air-conditioned departure lounge. It was nice that there was a pre-departure bbq for a quick bite to eat as we left.

The sea is wonderful. The village unfortunately not so good. The facilities are in bad condition and nobody cares. There is not the typical animation of club Med: you can barely recognize the GO since everyone wear a different outfit. The shows at night were very poor. And also the food was limited and not so tasty. I want to thank Galileo for his help, he really did his best to assist us. There is no attention to international customers, they only look after french speaking people.
