We recently enjoyed a short break at Ashfield Guest House, we had a great time, Chris and Ann were brilliant hosts, friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trrouble. Very helpful and knowledgeable about places to visit in area and how to get there by public transport. Breakfasts were delicious, lovely bedroom, Candy is a delightful added bonus! We would definitely stay there again if we visit Torquay in the future.

Had a 2 night stay at Ashfield Guest House over the bank holiday weekend and at 120 for an en suite double room it was excellent value. Ann and Chris, the hosts, were very warm and welcoming and made us feel at home straight away. The room was small and basic but was very clean and had all the amenities required, tea/coffee making facilities, TV, shower and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was very nice, choice of cereal and fruit juice and full English cooked to order. The guest house is in a quiet location a short stroll from the front, parking is available for 3 cars at the rear of the property but street parking is also available. All in all a very enjoyable stay and great value for money and would definitely recommend.

From the moment we had to contact Chris and Ann we knew we were on to a winner. Due to travel problems we arrived late but we're welcomed on arrival with two hosts who made us feel at ease immediately. From the moment we walked we felt an immediate welcoming atmosphere. After speaking to Chris and Ann over the following days of our stay, we felt we had found a diamond in the English Riviera and are certain to return. We felt so at ease, it really enhanced our time in Torquay and left feeling that we'd had a relaxing time throughout. We both said Chris and Ann are the sort of people that we'd go to the Bull & Bush (a great local pub) and have a meal with (and a bottle or three). I hope we can do this on our next visit. The room was spotless, and I really do mean spotless. We've stayed at hotels and other Airbnb places and have never seen a place so clean - not just the room but throughout the entire Guest House. The location is perfect! Close enough to the sea front and beach, close to all public transport, secluded enough to be quiet and easy to find when getting there. Don't bother driving anywhere, you are so close to transport for all the local attractions and towns nearby. Try out the boat taxi, fishing trips, Living Coast conservation centre, water safaris or just relax in the sea and the beach. Local bars and restaurants are good, we can recommend Las Iguanas for 2-4-1 cocktails. The price for such an ideal place is less than expected, especially when you factor in location and two fabulous hosts. I'd have happily paid more had I known how perfect for our stay the place was. Torquay is a fabulous place to visit and Chris and Ann, along with a great Guest House, really make visiting one of the memories you are sure to never forget. Some people have mentioned about sheets and blankets on the bed (as a negative) but they should have said something to Chris and Ann and could also have checked the wardrobe in the room and have found a quilt if that was more to their liking. Personally, we both found the sheets and blankets perfect as it allowed us more flexibility at night when it was hot. Each to their own, but ask or look before writing about this.
