    • Super hotel

      Reviewed 07 August 2019

This is an amazing hotel - wonderful view of the mountains, great hotel rooms, friendly staff and extensive range of breakfast choices. Very reasonably priced too. Llanes centre is a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive away. This is an ideal touring location with Comillas, Santillana del Mar, Los Picos, Oviedo and many other places to visit close by. The province of Asturias also has 31 beaches to choose from! Do stay here.

    • It worked, but not great despite a good attitude

We probably should have spent a bit more time researching before booking this one. Hopefully my review can prevent others making a similar mistake. But first, on the positive side, I felt the service was quite good. We are traveling with kids and one of them fell ill while we were there. They were flexible in the kitchen to whip up something gentle late one evening as we were nursing him back to health. All staff generally very friendly and helpful, and the property appeared to be generally clean and well maintained. The breakfast, while not 5 star, was actually a highlight for us with a reasonable breadth of options and an array of pastries for the kids. All of that being said, we were horrified when we pulled off the freeway and discovered our hotel was literally 100 yards off the exit. For anyone from the US considering a trip, this property felt a bit like a tired old Holiday Inn, complete with a faded sign at the top of an obnoxiously tall pole (in fact if memory serves there might have been two). They've done a great job with the pictures on the web but don't be fooled - it's simply not a beautiful place to stay and the pool are is quite small and unappealing. Walk into town is a solid 15 min which, given the size and remoteness of the town of Llanes, is too long. Llanes itself is a cute town and really quite strategically located - you have access to Picos but also to many beaches and charming towns nearby. Just wouldn't probably choose to stay at this property again.

    • Friendly staff and flexible about eating times

The location is not the best - right on a main road so quite a lot of traffic noise. However the staff was friendly and they were happy to accommodate our need to eat before the official dinner time and also to arrange an early breakfast for us the following morning.

    • Excellent night after a rough crossing to Santander with a late arrival and a friendly welcome.

      Reviewed 12 November 2018

Our ferry to Santander was delayed by bad weather and very rough. The drive was easy and quite short and the instructions we received when we called to say we would be late were perfect. The hotel is off the main road to Gijon and Oviedo on the way into Llanes. Very easy to find. Our welcome was warm and friendly after midnight. Parking was easy and plentiful. The room and en suite shower room were spacious and clean. Our room was at the back and we had a lovely quiet night after our rough crossing. In the morning we opened our curtains for a pastoral view of contented cows in an orchard! Breakfast was, in the Spanish way, extensive and, well presented and constantly refreshed. Check out was friendly and warm like the check-in with the staff delighted to share information about their town of Llanes in which they had obvious pride. They were interested in our onward route to Vigo via La Coruna. It would have been lovely to explore Llanes although the beaches of Northern Spain in mid-November are not perhaps the obvious leisure destination. Shame also that we could not participate in the towns Asturias food festival week which was ongoing and highly recommended by Sandra on reception. Certainly we shall re-visit, perhaps in the spring, I felt the hotel offered excellent value and would justify a return visit.

    • Great value and helpful staff

Fantastic location just on the outskirts of Llanes and a 20min walk into town. Great scenery with mountains and fantastic beaches nearby. Superior room was great for our short break and the hotel staff were all really helpful and friendly. Definitely planning a return visit to do a little more of the Camino de Santiago and explore more of Asturias.
