    • Oasis in the deseet

We arrived at Hotel Helsinki House after an overnight train and it instantly felt like an oasis in the desert. Beautiful building and we were greeted by the wonderful Meru who was incredibly kind and welcoming. Our room had a nice balcony overlooking the desert and a double shower which was a real treat. Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant are wonderful and it has an amazing view of the fort. We also chose to do the hotels camel safari not that we felt it was pushed upon us. We went with Mega and Gani and our two camels Monya and Sonya. The overnight stay under the stars was amazing and Mega was a great cook and host. Highly recommend this too.

The service and friendliness of the staff can be summed up in the following story. We asked at the reception whether we needed to make a reservation for the restaurant that evening. The answer was: Do you make a reservation at home when you want to eat? You are at home now, so feel at home. Everything was a pleasant surprise. The rooms were delightful, beautiful and a very comfy bed. Good bathroom. Wonderful rooftop restaurant with freshly made good food.

    • Again and again: we simply love it!

Again we came on a Rajasthan trip to Jaisalmer, first time during monsoon, and again we were for a couple of days in Hotel Helsinki House. It is still the good hotel we are used to, fits perfectly to all our needs. Situated outside of the crowdy center at the end of the Bera Road it gives us a fantastique view of the desert and up to the Gadsisar Lake (which is in walkable distance and our favourite destination for a nice afternoon walk), and from the roof top Restaurant we have during breakfast, lunch and dinner also great view of the Fort. It is an absolutely calm place, no traffic noise but only natural sounds of birds and once in a while cows, camels, dogs or whatever else the nature brings to us (this time also two great thunderstorms during our stay, we had a great time watching the lightnings over the desert). Our room in the haveli style hotel was as usual clean and functional with comfy bed and sitting places in the windows, attached bath also clean and fine. Food as great as always, breakfast to order (no buffet) and freshly prepared, included in the room rate, snacks during the whole day available and during lunch and dinner time whatever we wanted from the menu. I could endlessly eat there, really everything prepared exactly to my taste (and good portion sizes as well). Free drinking water 24 hrs available. Team, well, what to say - we know them meanwhile all, and they are all nice guys and doing a great job. Very friendly and supportive, we feel like relatives coming for a visit and being treated like guests of honour ;-) Really kind a second home for us, almost 2000 km away from home - and that has to do with the team, of course, and not with the stones and furnitures ;-) So, in total: 100% recommendation. We will surely come again. And again ... ;-)

    • Nice place to stay in Jaisalmer

I went there with my wife and brothers-in-law. Was happy with the staff and location. Quite basic in terms of the restaurant but quality food is there. The rest of the property is better than average and other happening places are nearby. The property is a family-run place. You always get that personal touch. Overall, a safe, comfortable and value-for-money place to stay over a weekend in Jaisalmer.
