    • Great small Hotel with Location, Location, Location

      Reviewed 18 June 2019

This hotel is a small quaint hotel in the old centre part of Lindau, the ideal location makes it easy to see the town and port as part of short stop on a touring holiday. Some parking is reservable nearby but needs to be booked when booking Accomodation. Our arrival was met by a friendly accommodating guy, who showed us the room and described the route to the parking space (only 3 mins walk from the hotel) The room we had was quite small but perfectly good for an overnight stay. The bathroom en suite was again small but perfectly acceptable, clean, tidy and everything worked OK. Breakfast was a decent Continental breakfast with the usual selection of ham, cheese, bread, yoghurt etc. If you like individual hotels with their own charm and character and in the right place and at the right price this is one for you.

    • Bedbugs and rude. Definitely a negative experience

      Reviewed 26 November 2018

Upon our arrival at the hotel the host was very nice and offered my girlfriend and I two free drinks at the nearby Christmas market. He spoke in English to me, as I cannot speak German, and German to my girlfriend. We were given the keys for the room number 10, which was pretty small but in general cute and clean. Once in bed we noticed one bedbug climbing the wall. We immediately informed the reception, as we know how annoying such blood-suckers are and how difficult they are to get rid of. The night guardian gave us the keys for another room and assured us that bedbugs had never been seen in the hotel (sure...). The new room had two single beds, which was not what we had booked, but at that point we didn't really care, and we spent around one hour making sure we could find no other traces of bedbugs under the beds and in the closets. Both my girlfriend and I have had previous experiences with such pests, and she is very allergic to them, so we spent the night with the lights on: bedbugs are nocturnal; they do not go out and "feed" if they see lights on in the room. Needless to say, however, the whole experience was ruined, because we spent the whole night awake and feeling itchy. In the morning, after a decent breakfast, we complained about the whole experience and were minded to not pay for the night (as the experience was extremely negative and the opposite of the romantic get-away we were promised). This time, however, the host chose to speak only in German (and only with my girlfriend, even though I was right there in front of him) and we were told, to our incredible surprise, that bedbugs are "a small inconvenience" and that the only thing they could do to right what was wrong was not to charge us only for our breakfast (amounting to around 8 euros). We strongly disagreed, as parasites are not a small inconvenience (imagine finding a worm in your salad at McDonalds and when you report it to the manager you are told "that is a small inconvenience"). Eventually my girlfriend, exhausted and fed up, decided to pay the bill and we decided to leave the hotel to ensure what was remaining of our weekend was not also ruined. I don't know if the other rooms of the hotel have bedbugs too, however we strongly suggest that you look for another host in Lindau. Unless, of course, you fancy sleeping with their blood-sucking pets.

    • great location but hotel is looking tired

this is quite a basic hotel but a good central location in the town centre. No restaurant but an adequate breakfast room in the basement. Our bedroom was very `poky` No car parking - this can be a drag , it is some distance away over the railway bridge

    • Nice hotel, perfect Location

The hotel is very centrally located, a 5 min walk from the train station and just steps away from restaurants and shopping. We were greeted very warmly by the staff and since we went during Christmas time we were given free vouchers for a drink at the Christmas Market. The entire hotel has a very old and historic feel to it. I loved the restaurant area, they have wood booth and light fixtures, it was so pretty and cozy feeling. Our room was on the 2nd floor and was a decent size, the bathroom was on the smaller size but it was fine for what we needed it for. My only complaint was that the you can hear everything through the walls and from the hall. It wasn't a big deal though since we did not spend a ton of time in the room. The breakfast was nice, we went at the very end but they still had a decent selection of things to eat. We only stayed here one night but I really enjoyed the feel of the hotel and would stay again and for longer.

    • Centrally located, quaint hotel with Old World Charm!

      Reviewed 15 December 2016

The Gasthof Inselgraben is situated in the heart of Hintere Island of Lindau, on Lake Constance, or Bodensee, in Bavaria Germany. At first glance, the hidden charms of a by-gone era, are cleverly hidden, keeping this little gem out of the main stream tourist radar. Good for us, as we were very happy with our cozy room and plentiful morning breakfast. All of the island's scenic attractions are within easy walking distance and the staff are friendly. We hope this place retains some of it's secrecy, as we plan our next visit to the region next year!
