Food is horrendous. Don't believe them when they say the offer vegetarian food. They will tell you that the food is vegetarian when it cleanly has meat in it. When I raised this I was offered plain pasta 3 days on the run!!!

    • 3 night break

Just got home from a 3 night break here. We went as a group of 4 all inclusive. Hotel and pool was clean. Good value for money. One night they put a BBQ on with sangria which was fantastic! Evening entertainment pretty good apart one night with a 'singer' I use that term lightly and keyboard player. The best one was the parrot show 100%. Ten minute walk from the beach. Could do with more variety of cocktails though. The breakfast buffet had a good selection. Relaxed atmosphere.

    • What a shame!

It really is a case of what might have been with this hotel. We booked a 10 night stay for me, wife & 2 sons (18 & 14 years). Wi-Fi advertised as free, has been for first 7 days, but we are now waiting for special permission from hotel manager for it to continue for the remainder of our stay. This is for one device only too, or we can pay 5/day/device for the elite wi-fi. I have never encountered this before & feel it is very petty. Other annoying pettiness is shown with water only provided in cups. You cannot have a bottle of water for your room unless you pay for it, although we have paid for all inclusive. The all inclusive deal ends abruptly at midday of the last day, so if you have a transfer at 18:00 you have to pay for everything you have in the hotel during that period. Never encountered this before either. The most annoying thing was on arrival we were allocated a one room apartment, which was expected, but did not expect it to be so small, that you had to shuffle sideways to move around the room as beds were so close to each other. This was addressed to some degree by moving us to a disabled room after 4 days, which made life a little more comfortable, but 2 of the beds were still the put-u-up variety, which is not ideal for two boys over 6 feet tall. This is not a big hotel, but it is full and am pleased to say there has been no problem with sun lounger availability or massive queues for food. The staff have been very good & keep rooms & public areas clean, with a smile on their faces, whilst trying to help and acknowledging some rules are petty. The lady with the tattoo on her neck, is no longer working behind the bar! It has been easy to get drinks, with no long queues and only once did I note someone being limited to only being given two drinks at a time & they were trying to take liberties by ordering loads which would leave others waiting whilst their shipping order was being dealt with. Split decision on the food. Full English breakfast available every morning, which I loved, but others thought was restrictive, although cereal, pastries & cold meats were available too. OK sauce available too! Lunches included cooked meat & fish, with a good selection of salad, cold meats & stew/soup. Evening meals were similar with paella always available. One evening was a barbecue night which was served outside including fresh prawns, three types of paella, lamb, chicken & sausages. There was plenty to eat for everyone throughout the two hour service and most found something they liked. However, BBQ aside, after a few days all hotel food gets boring, but this was no worse than the majority of hotels I have stayed in. We believed a gym to be available, which is not the case. We received a voucher for one person to visit the sister hotel, Dynastic, for one gym session, after which it is 9/session/person. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the beach, the strip & a massive street market (Wednesday & Sunday), which is very handy, depending on what you want to do. No noise from hen/stag parties noticed during our stay and a good mix of about 6 or 7 different nationalities staying at the hotel. A few people have commented on the hotel needing the decor to be freshened up & this is absolutely true with a number of things either broken or not working, which replacement is obviously being put off until the promised refurb in September. Sorry to finish on a negative, but the entertainment is extremely poor, even the majority of the music is from the 60s & 70s with what looks like the third chuckle brother walking round in a silly hat, annoying a sizeable portion of the residents, but some did appreciate it. No, we wont be coming back to this hotel, which is a shame as most issues are just annoyances, but there are so many of them.

    • 2nd visit, Does what it says on the Tin!

Visited the Placida as a group of 2 couples in August for a week. I had been there last year on a boys holiday and liked the location. It is only a 10 min wander to Morgans and the start of the strip (the quieter end), with plenty of small bars and eateries en route, so location is very good. This is a budget hotel, and the cheapest AI in Benidorm, so don't expect 4 stars, however the service that we got from all the staff was fantastic. There are 2 bars, the small bar beside the small pool being open in the daytime only. We much preferred the quieter small pool to chill during the day, and I must say that both Kim the English bartender and her Spanish sidekick (bad singer, thinning hair, cant remember name) were absolutely fab, and a credit to the hotel. Rooms are what you would expect, simple, but clean, with a strong shower and a hairdryer. The only thing I missed was a fridge. Most basic rooms look out on to a quiet back street and are in the shade, however we were allocated room 103 which overlooked the small pool and was great to sit and sunbathe on in the afternoon. Lady?? animation person is very funny, and does her best with limited props to put on a few funny presentations, and the bar is open till 12pm. What more could you ask for. Will return
