Visited the hotel on their 25th anniversary, adorable rooms and services, still retains the welcoming atmosphere and great service from all of the team, you are made to feel welcomed and valued as a guest. Particular mention to Jack who gave us some scrumptious cocktails and blew us away with his top notch customer skills, a proper star on the team this evening.

Ive been using the Winchester Hotel du Vin for a few years now and generally at the end of a long day of travelling. The hotel is always welcoming, friendly and wonderfully comfortable and with a fantastic menu and wine list. I think Ive stayed in most of the main rooms and the staff make you feel welcome and at ease and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is a joy overlooking the street and cocooned from the outside world. Few better places to stay if visiting south Hampshire

Party of twelve that visited for lunch to mark my Father's 80th birthday. A memorable meal enjoyed by many generations outside in the sunshine. Food on either menu is great, wine went down well and the whole afternoon passed without real incident other than a parasol sailing away on a recalcitrant zephyr to smash some neighbouring windows. Service continued seamlessly, and well done for that. Thanks for a lunch that will live long in the memory.

I know there are varied reviews on here but my friend and I wanted to give it a go for dinner. Cannot fault the food, great steak. Not a huge wine selection but still nice what we ordered. Staff was a tad slow, but we were not exactly rushing, the bistro has a nice decor, wasn't crowded but still had a nice cosy feel to it. Super pleasant evening and I will be back again.

Despite being a local resident, weve not had dinner in the restaurant for some 5 years, mainly due to the decline in their reputation with better options elsewhere. Lunch 2/3 times yes but not a full dinner. However with friends passing through & at their suggestion, we did last evening and pleasantly surprised. The dining room has a lovely feel tho the service, although efficient, was lacking warmth. Guess efficiency wins over warmth! Selection of a reasonable red wine was limited so we opted for a perfectly acceptable Cote du Rhne. The food was delicious however - lovely bread/butter/oils were promptly served. The mushrooms & Roquefort, endive, pear & walnut salad starters hit the right notes. And 3 of us had no regrets choosing the sole menuiere off the bone with capers & herb butter. We all passed immediate thumbs up approval ! Excellent sides of potato lyonnaise, spinach & haricot beans accompanied. My husband enjoyed the summer gnocchi but did rather look longingly at our plates! No room for desserts but Im sure they would have been equally delicious. V decent coffee. We went home happy and will definitely return - sooner rather than later .....
