    • Greatest Hotel

      5.0
      Reviewed 29 September 2019

I enjoyed the whole stay in this magnificent hotel. I liked the ancient style of the hotel. Rooms are comfortable and large. The staff were helpful, cooperative and always smile. I want to thank the phippina lady, Teresita, who was really hospitable and so kind. One of the great moments I will never forget, when Mr Coen Masselink, the Hotel General Manager, drove me with his own car to my destination when there was a shortage of taxi at that time, it was a very generous of him.

    • Great room but poor reception service

Loved the decor of the hotel and the quality of the room. Shower and room was clean and well stocked. My only criticism is the poor reception service - checking in took too long and the check out queue took 15 minutes.

    • Celebratory Meal

We went for a celebratory meal and it was absolutely excellent. First rate food served very nicely in an interesting and special environment. I can strongly recommend and considering the quality of the food service and environment, the price was very reasonable.

    • Not worth leading hotels of the world. It seems to lack managment

The hotel itself is real nice. Renovated in 2006 it kept the ancient grandeur, nice to arrive and enjoy the romantique interior, but... First we had to wait around 20 min. before getting our luggage, waiting in our room. In double room only 1 bathrobe, we asked a second one the next day in the morning, al 19. oo we had to ask again. First evening preparations put carpet next to bed + slippers, second night nothing. First afternoon when we left teacups and glasses on a table on 1st floor, going to our room. We made a remark to help next day nothing changed, finally it is only taken away two days later. Messy. Breakfast no place available, finally we got one but had to wait, and wait and ask again for our coffees. Was the personel miscontent, some kind of strike? The rooms where not very well done either. If it was a second grade hotel OK but not for a hotel that claims to be leader of the world.

    • Excellent location! Old world elegance!

Rooms we stayed in (2 interconnecting rooms) had ample space; great view; care has been taken in choosing the good quality amenities; room facilities is well set up. However, the power point for the kettle was faulty and we had to use the one near the desk. Service is average for a Leading Hotels of World (LHW) standard. The front desk staff were slow and a couple of times, did not acknowledge guests who were waiting for a long time to apologise for the delay. Though when not busy, they were always smiling and polite. The doorman on our first day was pleasant, courteous and helpful. The others that followed after couldn't really care less. There's a parking across the street for a fee. The hotel valet can unload your baggages and park the car for you. They were renovating the restaurant during our stay and were serving meals from the tea room. Overall, it was still a good stay. The rooms very comfortable, the location is perfect! Our rooms were on the 2nd floor and we did not have any problems with street noise or aircon humming etc...
