    • Nice hotel in good location but not 5-star

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. My stay didn't have the best start as despite emailing twice for information regarding getting to the hotel from the train station I got no reply. And when I arrived there was no one to help with my suitcase and I had to haul it myself over cobblestones and up a flight of stairs in the pouring rain. The first room I was put in, a "Tradition" room, was NOT 5-star. Despite specifically requesting when I booked that I would prefer a quiet room, I was put in room 403 which is right up in the roof with a view on the technical area where all the very noisy ventilation/ air conditioning machines make an incessant humming noise. There was no dressing table, no drawers, a hard plastic un-upholstered chair, no reachable plug outlets - you had to crawl under the desk or bedside table and unplug one of the bedside lamps to plug anything in. But the shabby bathroom was the icing on the cake, with chipped paintwork and holes in the walls. I was told it would be difficult to move rooms that night as the hotel was full, however I spoke to the manager in the morning and she was incredibly helpful and I was upgraded to another room for my other 2 nights. This room was much nicer but only had a bath and one of those handheld showers, still no dressing table - the only socket near to a mirror where I could plug in my hotbrush & look in a mirror to do my hair was in the bathroom, and again I had to crawl under the bedside table & unplug one of the bedside lamps to be able to have my phone charging next to the bed so the alarm would wake me up - there always seemed to be something screaming "NOT 5-STAR!!" in this hotel. Other than that, the hotel is in a wonderful historic building just off the square where Jeanne d'Arc was burnt. It also boasts a fantastic spa but I did not use it so cannot comment. And the staff throughout the hotel definitely gave 5 star service being very helpful. Breakfast is taken in the annexe brasserie but wasn't included in my package so again I cannot comment as I just bought fruit from the nearby market and had that. There are a wealth of restaurants just around the corner from the hotel that offer good quality food. All in all, I am afraid I cannot recommend this hotel, and I wouldn't stay here again. I've attached photos of the holes in the bathroom wall & the "5-star" plastic chair.

A little disappointed as the room was in the attic and made access for my wife difficult. The shower flooded as the drain was obviously blocked. As we were only staying one night they could not fix it and did not offer us an alternative room. The brassiere offered an excellent light meal in the evening and a first class breakfast so we were well set for the final drive to Calais. The situation of the hotel is first class being in the centre of Rouen.

nice room really comfy bed, good shower and amenities. Iron and Ironing board nice touch when you have been travelling like we had. Coffee machine and kettle but had to go in search of milk as there was only a small one. Clean but the rest of the hotel seemed quite dark. lovely pool and area, the outside of the hotel was beautiful and very historic. Well located for site seeing. Helpful staff. Parking was secure and expensive but for a city you can accept it. Nice hotel would stay again if I visit Rouen as its location was so good.

Booked this hotel as a splurge for the last night of our honeymoon and was sorely disappointed. The square, building and lobby were beautiful and the staff were helpful. However, our room was terrible. We were put in 116 which is off the lobby in a corridor by itself and next to a banquet room. I had booked a room with a partial view and the window did overlook a church next door, however, it was also on the 1st floor right above the valet parking and a busy sidewalk, so the blinds had to be kept closed for any sort of privacy. The only full wall was floor to ceiling, mirrored closet doors, so the TV was on a table in the middle of the room. They were setting up the banquet room when we arrived and I was told there wasn't an event that night. So crappy room, but at least it would be quiet. We went out for dinner and when we returned, sure enough there were 25+ people in the banquet room with a dinner in full swing. So had to request to change rooms at 9pm after a long day of driving, pack up our bags and lug everything to the opposite side of the hotel and to the 4th floor. The second room was bigger (although there was no counter space in the bathroom) and overlooked the square - when i stood on my tip toes to actually be able to see out the windows. To be honest, we didn't look at anything else in the hotel because we were so disappointed by the experience and tired after schlepping our stuff around. *Google maps and car nav get confused and think the hotel is in an ugly apartment building next to the square where it's actually located. You have to type in a different address to be able to access the valet parking*
