This is a quirky property with easy access to Rouen old town. We booked a family room for 4 but ended up with 2 adjoining double bedrooms on the top floor in the annexe. This was perfect, the rooms were accessed by our own private staircase and faced away from the main street so were quiet. Beds very comfortable and rooms seemed very clean. Bathrooms were a bit dated with only a handheld shower attachment, but were clean and hot water was plentiful. Parking is an issue. We were not made aware of the hotel's own car park and the hotel is on a pedestrianised street so you can not arrive and drive straight up to the front door. We ended up paying for 4 hour parking on a side street 10 minutes walk away, dragging suitcases to the hotel, and then taking the car to an underground 24 hour car park under the old market place. 15 for 24 hours. Not a problem, but would have been good to know where to park from the outset. Didn't eat in the hotel, but saw the dining room laid out for breakfast and it looked inviting, Reception staff were very friendly and all 3 people that we dealt with spoke excellent English. Perfect little hotel for a short stay in Rouen.

    • Middle of the road hotel, Some good, Some not so

The hotel is well located in the city centre but not on a busy road. However, it is located opposite of a bar that gets noisy at night. The hotel has 2 x double glass windows but still you can hear the noise. The room is nicely decorated and appointed for its class, the bed comfortable and but not as big as you would want. Shower works fine, but the towels have seen the end of their lives unless you like drying yourself with sandpaper. Evening staff was not very friendly, morning staff was very nice. Breakfast was surprisingly good, a French breakfast, so no scrambled eggs etc (just hard boiled). Good coffee/tea and each table has its own toaster. For the money, the hotel is good.

Couldnt fault the staff, they were all very polite and friendly and very helpful. Rooms are very tired, and could be cleaner, towels were old and smelt a little of smoke Bed was clean and fresh, and very comfortable, the pillows had seen better days. Our overall experience was good, but I dont think I would stay again. Although it says on the website there are tea and coffee making facilities there are none in the rooms. Although they are happy to make drinks in the reception area for you at a charge.

A lovely place to stay with satisfactory accommodation. But I do agree totally that it is not suitable for people who have mobility issues or for seniors. The staff is friendly and breakfast was moderate with the room being satisfactory but there is no safety handles to assist in getting in and out of the tub/shower, it was too high off the ground. There were not enough hook to hang your towels or space for my toiletries. Yet my stay was a peaceful one and the location was accessible to the shopping areas, churches, attractions, etc. I encourage the management to install safety measures for the older folks, handicap, and simple for caution.

    • Lovely position, friendly small hotel, not good for disability.

We spent three nights at the Hotel Dandy, and found the staff (singular when we arrived) friendly and very helpful. The room was nice, the bed very good, and there was lots of room to move. The hotel could not be better placed in the heart of the old town. The breakfast room was very pleasant, and breakfast was very good, in the French manner. However, we do not think the hotel is suitable for people with disabilities. While there is a lift to room levels, it is small, and would not accommodate a wheelchair of any size (which we didnt need, but we were on sticks). Our room was on floor 4, and there was a step down to the lift level, and the lift door swung in such a way as to make movement quite difficult. The bathroom was ok, but I could not use the shower. There was a bath with a shower in it, so getting in was tricky, but the slippery bath floor and the lack of a non-stick matt meant I could not use it. Parking could have been a really serious problem for us. We were told by the hotel that there were parking spaces we could pay for. When we got there, they were all taken, and in any case, we were told that they were not suitable for disabled people. We were told that we could park on Suave disabile spots on a nearby road. They were also all taken, and we parked illegally until one became free (found for us by the hotel, for which many thanks). So as blue badge holders, we didnt pay for parking, a plus if a space is available. Whether the amenity level was up to the three star rating is a matter of debate. It was fine for us. Rouen is amazing, and we had a great holiday.
