Very nice little hotel offering excellent value for money . Opposite railway station and an easy short walk across the bridge to the main city attractions. Ask for a front room , they are bright , I had room number 15 .Well worth staying at when in Bayonne .

A comfotable hotel right near the railway station and a quick walk across the bridge to the main attractions. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast good in general but very limited in gluten free products. Would definitely stay there again if in Bayonne.

We stayed here one night on our way to walk the Camino Frances. The hotel is old but we found it clean and comfortable. We asked for an upper room on the quiet side, which we got, but it meant that the only window looked out on the elevator shaft and was painted shut. Maybe a front room with a balcony would have been nice but the hotel is on a busy street and right across from the train station so we thought a front facing room might be noisy. It was super handy for catching the train the next morning. The room was very, very basic but we slept well, had a good shower in the morning, and thats all we needed. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We passed on the breakfast option and found a nice local coffee bar nearby instead so we cant comment on the food.

The room was fine and the people were nice. The building is in shambles, the elevator sort of worked and the WiFi was a joke. A good location walking distance from the train station, but I wont stay here again.

    • 5 days in Bayonne

We stayed at this hotel for a few days earlier this month and this is what we think. The hotel is situated just a 5 minute walk (across the river bridge) from the Medieval and modern town centre. It is also just across from the railway station. It is on a main road, but the double glazed, air conditioned rooms meant that noise wasn't an issue. At night, the area was quiet anyway. Getting to and from the Hotel and central Bayonne from Biarritz Airport is Easy. Take Chronoplus bus "C" going to Ametzondo and get off at The "Bayonne Mairie" stop. The number 14 also goes there, but takes much longer. From here it is a 6 minute walk over the river bridge to the Hotel. The Room: It was clean with basic furnishings (a chair, table and bedside tables, open rail for hanging clothes) and a nice wooden floor. The bathroom/washroom was again clean and of an average size (enough room to move about in). We asked for a room on an upper floor with a view, which we got (4th floor. we could see the river, Cathedral and Rhune mountain in the distance). The bed was comfortable. No complaints about a basic room. There was no hot drinks making facility in the room. The Staff: All the staff were friendly and helpful, assisting us with any questions we had. They have a room to store luggage (just ask) if on your last day you want to see the town before leaving. Breakfast: The breakfast room is pleasant, with windows looking on to the street and you serve yourself. if you have breakfast, give your room number to reception as you pass. Breakfast is not included, but can be paid for as an extra at the time of booking. The breakfast is continental style (no fried breakfast here). The breakfast is ok, but with a limited variety of some items. for a few nights stay it is fine. Evening Meal: The Hotel does not do evening meals, but there is a reasonably priced restaurant just across the road from the hotel, behind the church. There are many restaurants in Bayonne old town. Getting around: The A1 bus to Biarritz stops directly across the road from the hotel. From the railway station you can catch a train to Saint Jean De Luz Ciboure (and the Rhune mountain railway. Be aware it takes some effort to go to the Rhune by public transport), and on to San Sebastian (changing trains at Hendaye). Price: Looking around Bayonne, we felt that the price was good for what was offered compared to some other hotels. Yes it is basic accommodation, but it was clean, with great staff, a comfortable bed and in a good location. We would stay there again for a few days city break.
