    • Excellent hotel but a little overpriced for this location.

We stayed as a family for one night in two rooms as a stop-over for a Jamon tour we had booked for the following day in a nearby village. The hotel team reserved us two rooms next to each other which was great. One room was a free upgrade also. The check in procedure was trouble free and seamless, with the staff speaking good English. Your passports are required at check in. Wi Fi is available and is included in the room rate. We agree with the other reviews regarding the good facilities and excellent breakfast, though we did not use the Spa so cannot review this. We liked the secure parking as the streets outside the hotel are very narrow. You can walk into the village centre from this hotel, but wear practical footwear as the streets are steep in places. We have given a rating of four out of five as in our opinion the room rates are a little expensive for this region and location. We were also woken in the early hours of the morning by footsteps inside the hotel, waking back and forth in a corridor three times. If this was staff, then perhaps the Management can look at this and try to resolve? If it was a guest, then clearly this is not the fault of the hotel. There was traffic noise outside in the early hours of the morning, though this is beyond the control of the hotel.

    • Beautiful and sympathetically renovated old convent

Couldn't fault the building, impressive reception are, big room with huge joined twin bed setup, large bathroom with separate bath, lots of amenities, free wifi and functioning ac. Good size outdoor pool with bar and sun loungers, tremendous area to relax and unwind. Spoilt a little by very slow bar service inside, restaurant was overwhelmed by guests who hadn't booked but coped well. Staff were overworked but friendly and helpful, meals were well presented and tasty without being exceptional.

I stayed at Hotel Convento Aracena for 3 nights in July 2019. My stay was faultless. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool with bar area. A full restaurant, a well equipped spa area. A lobby bar and a great breakfast with the local Jabugo ham recently sliced. The location is very tranquil and hardly any noise at this location. It was fabulous to see the storks nest on the top of the hotels belltower. It is set in a 17th century convent and despite being an historical building there is plenty of space for it to be practical and comfortable. Bathroom is spacious and user friendly. I ate at the restaurant twice during my stay. Food was very good quality and beautifully presented. I also chose a local white wine from Huelva province which was suggested by the waiter. Good to beable to try one of the lesser known wines. Spa is well organized. You book a time slot when you arrive to the hotel so they can ensure there are only few people in at any one time. They also have a tea and water to hand. I spent an hour in the spa and really enjoyed it. Garden spaces around the hotel are immaculately kept too.

    • Beautiful hotel...very disappointing meal experience

      Reviewed 03 June 2019

As guests of hotel, 12 confirmed a dinner booking in the afternoon. The staff confused many orders, took orders for food that was not available, charged one person for 2 mains, presented 2 salmon meals cold and raw in the inside and then told 2 of the group who had booked at 9.30 that they were too busy to come back at 10.30 p.m. When 4 people went to the bar afterwards they were ignored by staff who were struggling with the cash register. zNot what expected from such a lovle 4 star hotel.
