This hotel is spectacular! We had a room right on the courtyard. The hotel has great amenities and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast at Casa Valadez was a nice addition and the hotel staff was amazing. You cant beat the location either. We will be back.

We decided to spend one night in Guanajuato and we choose the 1850 with a balcony overlooking the Jardin De La Union. The entire staff was very friendly and the reception spoke very good English. Breakfast included at the Casa Valadez next door.

My wife and I had the civil ceremony portion of our marriage here in 2014. We also had our reception here. Of the three wedding planners who assisted us with planning the wedding and getting everything ready, only Betty is left. Even so, she remembered us after five years and gave us a big hug when we arrived. The hotel is beautiful, its location is fantastic, and you definitely get what you pay for. You even get breakfast at Casa Valadez next door. What's there NOT to like? Even though it's a bit noisier, we like the side of the building with the balconies as you can just open a window on the Jardin de la Union and see all the activity there. Shut the double windows and you barely hear anything. Book here if you're going to Guanajuato!

Very nice Hotel, ubication excellent, friendly and professional staff. Not cheap, but definetly the place to be and worth the tarif. Suites are really nice, the view, roof bar, wow, you will be satisfied. Dont forget some earplugs during weekend, remember its a university city. ;-)

Its hard to get a good feel for this hotel / rooms from the website. There are a few peculiarities with this property that are frankly part of the charm - but could put you off if you are not expecting them. Bottom line - we loved our stay here. The staff is excellent. Our room was great. The hotel is very comfortable and well designed. Here are some of the things that we encountered so you can set your expectations properly: 1. We were a little surprised when we got dropped off down and had to manage our own luggage in the street because there is not auto access to the front of the hotel. But once we found the hotel, we were very pleasantly surprised. And it was nice to not have any cars around. 2. The entry is long and the check-in is at the back. Its a little confusing when you first walk in because youre not sure where to go. The guard at the front could be a little but friendlier, but the folks we dealt with at the front desk were lovely. Super friendly and extremely helpful. 3. The suites have windows that open up onto the square. Its a vibrant square with lots of singing/noise and activity. The windows are amazing because they drown out about 95% of the sound. They are great! Some rooms have balconies, but they are not really any better than the rooms with only windows because the balconies are small and you cannot sit outside on them like other hotels. So dont get hung up on a balcony. 4. The hotel has a wonderful roof deck / bar - be sure to take advantage of it. 5. The hotel doesnt have a kitchen, but has an arrangement with the restraunt next door. They have great food, but get busy on the weekends and there can be a wait. Also, they dont open till 9AM, so if you need to eat early you are out of luck. There is a Starbucks adjacent to the hotel for coffee drinks - there is coffee in your room as well. 6. The ladies at the front desk are incredibly knowledgeable and provide excellent concierge services. They arranged dinners, rounds and sights. They are great!
