the hotel is alright, if you get a room with a balcony it's better, the all inclusive stops at 10 pm. if you want to carry on drinking you will have to pay, if like us and get a delay in arrival time and miss the 9pm closure of restuarant then be prepared to go out and buy a meal. the staff on the whole are good. the rooms are kept clean but our wondows were filthy, i know that they were not easy to reach but they were disgusting, the air con was great, there is parking all round the hotel but like a lot of locals they tended to park anywhere on the roads, the meals were repeated far too often and the choice was limited, the sun beds were a bit uncomfortable, when i tried laying on my front there was solid plastic bars which made laying on your front was not very good. the location was good and only a stones thow from the beach, shops most of the way along the seafront, Taxis were on time and were a reasonable price.

This 3 star hotel is situated in a great location in the beautiful Algarve but otherwise the hotel itself is not very nice. I went there with my partner and grandson (14 years old) and my sister and her grandson in another room. Firstly our flight was an hour delayed so we arrived at the hotel at 9.10pm. We were all inclusive and so asked the receptionist about the evening meal (at this time there were people still eating in the restaurant), to which we were told in no uncertain terms that the restaurant closes at 9pm and we couldn't get anything to eat. I then asked if we could get a snack ie. a sandwich and a piece of fruit for example to compensate for having paid for the evening meal on the arrival day but basically was told "no". There was absolutely no help at all with this situation so we (all 5 of us) had to go out and find a restaurant (as we were all very hungry and getting tired by this time after travelling best part of the day and dropping the cases off to our rooms). We found a nice Indian restaurant and had a nice meal but it cost between us 91 euro's and as we had already paid the hotel for the evening meal I felt this was an unnecessary expense. Also on the morning we were left we had an early flight so we missed out on the (already paid for again) breakfast of which the hotel said they couldn't give us a pre-packed breakfast. Our hotel room was on the 7th floor with no balcony, very disappointing. The rooms were average and cleaned daily. The towels were changed 3 times a week. The food was very little choice every day and only one vegetable option with dinner every day so if you didn't like the one veg on offer, basically it was tough. The meals were repeated a lot throughout the week and extremely small choice. The staff on reception were very nice and friendly but in other areas were quite ignorant and never smiled. The all inclusive drinks finished at 10pm every night but didn't effect us too much as we aren't drinkers but still feel this is unfair. The pool is quite small for the size of the hotel. My grandson and sisters grandson went in the pool often as it was really hot weather but on 5 occasions cut there feet on more than one tile at the bottom of the pool being raised and sharp. We told reception staff on a couple of occasions only to be told that as it was high season there was no way that they could empty the pool to get it repaired as customers wouldn't be happy. I said what about other people cutting there feet? but got no answer. This just isn't good enough. There was no entertainment at all at the hotel. On arriving I noticed the phone in my room was not working, it actually had the wire ripped out so I told reception and they said on 2 different occasions that it couldn't be fixed!!!. WHY. The windows in our room were absolutely filthy and as we didn't even have a balcony we couldn't see much of the view. I certainly would not recommend this hotel and would NEVER go back there

    • Worst hotel- not a 3 star.

Disgusting room. Nothing like pictures advertised. Rude and threatening manager (Luis). Asked to change rooms- he Said we could change rooms then changed mind 30 seconds later. Following this he threatened us - be careful while you are here. Also called us rude which we were not. Room was very basic and tiny. Bathroom ceiling was collapsing. Shower was powerful though. Pool area wasnt very clean and the pool was deep but freezing cold- couldnt stay in it for long. Very glad we were not all inclusive- food looked vile. The snack bar consisted of bread, filling and stale crisps. We were self catering and couldnt even buy a drink as we werent all inclusive, yet signs saying you couldnt bring your own food/ drink to pool areas. Having stayed in many hotels around Europe, which are often two star, Hotel Atismar (Hotel RATismar) is 100 % not a 3 star, likely not even a 2 star. My advice is to avoid at all costs.
