    • A wonderful dining experience.

      Reviewed 08 September 2019

My husband and I had dinner here recently. We were welcomed immediately and seated at a window table (our favorite). Our server, Jamie, was right over to let us know of additions to the menu that evening and to answer any questions. She was very knowledgeable about the dishes served. I ordered trout and hubby the scallops. Both were delicious. Two appetizers and an entree later, we really wanted to try the olive oil cake that we had heard good things about. Delicious and beautifully served with fruit and whipped cream. Our dinner at Acacia was so special with the delicious food and staff who really care about making the meal an experience!

    • the perfect destination for celebrating couples

dear friends paid for our meal at this not-so-very inexpensive BYO intimate bistro. what they paid was well worth it: all of us were completely satisfied with our choices, and with the quality of service throughout the evening. I sampled everyone's entrees, which included the pork chop, the rainbow trout (perfectly boned, by the way), the Griggstown Farm roasted chicken, and....the star of the show at our braised lamb shank. It was done exquisitely, and it is rare to find lamb shank on any menu these days; it was big enough for me to take 1/2 of it home for another separate meal. The fried calamari appetizer was split by the 2 fellas at the table: it was an unusual and delicious twist on this fried favorite, though the calamari rings were just a tad bit tougher than we are accustomed to. A perfect evening had by everyone; it's the company you keep....and the restaurant you rendezvous at.

    • New 2019 summer menu. Always reliable inventive American cuisine

      Reviewed 20 July 2019

We have been going to Acacia for many years, and it is always the same friendly and warm service, interesting food, seasonally changing menu and budget-friendly prices. The most recent 2019 summer menu includes (but not limited to) such great dishes as refreshing White Gazpacho, delicious Littleneck Clams cooked in Thai coconut curry, Fried Green Tomato, and terrific Local Yellowfin Tuna served with vermicelli noodles and shiitake mushroom. Our dessert choice was equally excellent, very light Lemon Chiffon Cake, served with white chocolate, raspberry Chantilly, and French macaron. The ambiance is calm and relaxing, and the BYOB makes it all more desirable. If you live in the greater Princeton area a visit to Acacia is a must.

Acacia is in Lawrenceville, NJ and across the main street from the well-regarded Lawrenceville School. Dining in the summer when school is on break gives the restaurant a relaxed, quiet and reseeved atmosphere. The menu is small but filled with exciting appetizers, salads, and entrees. We enjoyed the beet salad, crabcakes, porkchop and chocolate trifle. Prices are in the $20's and $30's for entrees. No wine list but you can bring your own bottles. Service was attentive.

    • Excellent Food, Great Service and BYOB

We were in visiting friends in the area and decided to return to this old friend of a place. We were pleased with our decision to re-visit. Three in the party opted for the Scottish Salmon. All reported that it had been cooked perfectly, tender, moist and well seasoned. A fourth diner had the Hangar Steak, and I ate the bone-in Pork Chop. Sides, salads, soup, and desserts were excellent compliments to the entrees. Because it is a BYOB, we were able to share our favorite wines. It was quiet so our servers were totally devoted to pleasing our party. We dont live in the area any longer. It was a great place to gather with our friends from New Jersey.
