If you are looking for a very traditional german restaurant, this one is your best choice. Second time in this place, and still the best pork in Berlin. The enviroment is tipically german, curated and beautiful. The dishes are all good and big, the choice of beers let you taste the typicals of Berlin. Definitely a place I would recommend anyone coming to this city for the first time. It's not a cheap place, but it's definitelty worth every cent. Shotout to the service: fast and precise!

Had the pork shank, fried potatoes and sauerkraut. Outstanding! Service was wonderful. The restaurant is in the Nickolaus Quarter where there's a lot going on. Check it out if you're in Berlin.

Nestled along a street of taverns is Mutter Hoppe which is a tavern I always look forward to visiting on any holiday I take to Berlin. I love the look of this tavern,a cosy interior, great decor and furnishings including a cool looking serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this tavern both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Rathausstrae. We were here on a roasting hot Monday afternoon, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of staff, we chose to sit outside were we ordered a beer each,we opted to have our beers served with a sweet syrup each,I chose a green syrup ,my brother chose a red syrup ,after a short wait our sweet beers arrived iced cold and sparkling and we just chilled out and took in the great tavern we were in. On this visit I cannot really comment on the meals as we were here only for beers but I have ate here on many occasions over the years and the meals are just superb, proper hearty German cuisine hearty and filling. My beer was superb, the syrup added to our beer turned a refreshing beer into a totally refreshing beer, an absolutely delicious beer to enjoy especially with it being such a hot afternoon. We really enjoyed our beers in here and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to here we had a great time . Mutter Hoppe is easy to locate along Rathausstrae on a street and in an area teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants and some amazing architecture and a major tourist destination namely Nikolaivietel. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday; Monday to Sunday, 11.30am till 11pm. A great tavern, well worth checking out if your in the area.

Tried this restaurant on our first night in Berlin after wandering around Nikolaiviertel sightseeing. The restaurant was obviously popular as they were quite busy with both locals and tourists. We were able to find a table immediately in the outside dining area. The waiter spoke good English and we were also offered menus in English. The food style is traditional German with generous portions. Service was a little slow, but as they were busy this was to be expected. Two courses with drinks for two people came to less than 50 euros which was very reasonable for the quality of the food. I would return to this restaurant on another visit to Berlin
