Very nice surprise
ReviewedSmall hotel, very well located. Close to the grande plage, the casino, the commercial area, les halles and restaurants. And in good walking distance to the central bus station . We got a room (302) on the (highest) floor. Quite, sufficient space, also the bathroom was of a good size. Good view. The breakfast was, for France, very good. Well managed hotel, very nice and helpful staff.
Wolfgang KIncredible hotel experience
ReviewedI cant say enough good things about the people who work the front desk. Theyre kind, enthusiastic, & go out of their way to assist you. The hotel is surrounded by great restaurants. Wonderful rooms!
BennovonAA Great Option For Biarritz
ReviewedI originally booked a more expensive hotel closer to the beach, but due to budget issues I later switched the booking to Hotel Alcyon, a little further inland and more basic. It turned out to be a great decision. The place is still only a short walk from the main beach area. It is small, but clean and the staff are friendly and helpful (I emailed ahead asking for parking advice and they replied quickly with two options). The breakfast is simple but more than adequate and our 4 year old son ate for free. Fresh juice, tea, coffee, an abundance of pastries, preserves, fruit and cereal were all available. They also provide towels for the beach if you need. Our room wasn't cleaned the first day, but when we mentioned it, they were very honest and explained they had a new maid and she slipped up, no big deal for us and the room was cleaned the next day without any issues while we were out. We loved the small but cosy lobby area with sofa and TV which felt homely. A great choice if you are not looking to splurge.
650PeterLUpmarket B&B. Good value.
ReviewedWhat makes a hotel a hotel not a B&B? I dont know (and Ive been caught out before). However... the Alcyon is a pleasant enough little B&B/hotel. Sandrine the receptionist is nice, very helpful and speaks fluent English. Centrally located within easy walking distance of the seafront/shops/restaurants. We arrived by car and it is easy enough to find with a sat nav. There is NO parking at the hotel or dropping off area. It is situated at the intersection of 2 narrow one way streets. I stopped long enough to drop off my partner and our bags and then had to drive off again. Parking seems plentiful (unbelievably) in Biarritz with lots of underground parking. Look for Indigo signs. We drove up Maison de la Suisse. If you just keep calm and just follow where the road leads you within less than 200m you will come to Gare du Midi parking on your right. It is an underground multi-storey. Secure (I would be happy to leave a motorcycle there) and no more than 15 for 24 hours. Simples! Our room was a superior room. I think the word is subjective, but it was ok, and I shall refrain from being critical. It had a large comfy bed... and a Juliet balcony of sorts. There is NO restaurant and NO bar. Neither is a problem. There is a lounge. What you see in the hotel pics is what you get. It is quite adequate. Breakfast is more than adequate (12). Without knowing what other places are like it is impossible to compare or contrast. We saw one of the other (more expensive) hotels that wed thought of going to, and were glad that we hadnt. For one night (or even a few) if all you really need is a bed, and a base, or even just somewhere to leave your bags all day, as we did, its ideal. It appears there is no left luggage facility at the airport or railway station, so in that respect it was very useful.
VivelafrancetodaySweet lodging, great location
ReviewedWe spent a quick night here, very comfortable and clean, staff couldn't have been nicer. We took advantage of their recommendations. Location convenient for walking the neighborhood. Public parking lots are nearby.
